I'm not convinced that's a wise option. Third parties rarely do well and take up space and money otherwise might change those running for office than "title" a third party.
Just can't see that as a winner for any who oppose this administration. Convince me why that would work this time around when it has failed so many other times. What's different now that would make it work?
There is an interesting article on National Review, comparing Islam and Judaism/Christianity. I couldn’t help but think that the differences explained the problem that we have with Obama.
What was that book about the roots of Obama’s anger? Well, I’m not so sure that it has so much to do with his absentee father as it does with his mother and Islam.
As you've aptly demonstrated from your hands-on political participation in Sussex County, political success requires very ACTIVE grass-roots involvement--not expensive manicures and year-round tanning salon appointments.
It is also not a wise option to keep on supporting people who don't support your values and objectives. If the GOP establishment continues on its path of ignoring conservatives and what we want, then the GOP will go the way of the Whigs. It will become a third party.
Just can't see that as a winner for any who oppose this administration. Convince me why that would work this time around when it has failed so many other times. What's different now that would make it work?
I had to hold my nose and vote for McCain. I will never do that again. We are talking in the long term. Supposedly, 40% of the public are conservative. Unless the GOP starts becoming more conservative, it will lose power and influence. We want a choice, not an echo of the Dem party. Political parties are not forever. Unless they change, they will eventually fail.
We are at a crossroads in terms of which direction this country will go. This is not only about opposing this President, it is about opposing the welfare state. We had a Republican President and Congress that passed the prescription drug program under Medicare, an unfunded $7.3 trillion unfunded liability. We doubled the size of the federal education budget working with Ted Kennedy. And we had a Republican President supporting amnesty and rewarding people who broke our laws. We also had massive spending increases and a doubling of the national debt. The inevitable collapse of the welfare state will be the agent of change. If the GOP continues to try to keep it alive, then why should I or any conservative support them?
Of course we shouldn’t continue to support those who oppose our values and objectives. But I find it very difficult to believe the GOP will go the way of the Wigs or it become the third party. It’s a stronghold that can’t be taken down in one election....the balance of politicians within the congress etc. will make certain that does not happen...and the Democrates will even assist in that respect.
But you still haven’t answered my question....HOW is it different now then the past when third parties have attempted to gain power. I know it’s a nice thought to imagine the GOP as the third party but that isn’t going to happen, the public recognizes them as one of the two party system our Gov. operates from.
It’s like with Coke, and Pepsi....third beverages might take a share of the market but they are just that.. third. Same with Phone Companies and all other markets....there are generally three major players but always two remain at the top...the third is simply an option.
So “HOW” would a third party rise above both established parties? I just cannot see that happening.
Sometimes I wonder if this Manchurian even has the capacity.
He seems on such a focused his mission to destroy the country he just seems so narcisstically neutered. Perhaps that’s where the bisexual nature comes in,difficult dude to decipher. But definitely following the cloward piven to a tee.
I always know which option he will take in any given situation: the worst one for the nation.
It never fails. From energy (Gulf drilling vs. helping Brazil with their drilling) to Afghanistan (pretend to want to win while hamstringing the military) to the budget(as we all know these particulars) he NEVER fails to do the worst thing possible.
He hates this country, and he hates us.
That was my point. This is a long term effort. It is not about one election. It takes time to build a party that is competitive at all levels of government. The rules are stacked in favor of the two party system.
But you still havent answered my question....HOW is it different now then the past when third parties have attempted to gain power. I know its a nice thought to imagine the GOP as the third party but that isnt going to happen, the public recognizes them as one of the two party system our Gov. operates from.
What is different today is a collapsing welfare state. We can't continue on the same path. It is unsustainable. There is a coming crisis much like the Civil War when the GOP was born with Lincoln being its first nominee. The public is not going to follow both parties over the cliff. Most Americans have no idea how bad the situation is. People will be in the streets once they realize the government can't fulfill the promises it has made. Look to Greece and see what happens.
Its like with Coke, and Pepsi....third beverages might take a share of the market but they are just that.. third. Same with Phone Companies and all other markets....there are generally three major players but always two remain at the top...the third is simply an option.
We didn't always have Democrat and Republican parties. Pepsi didn't start at the same time as Coke. Crisis will spawn new political alignments.
So HOW would a third party rise above both established parties? I just cannot see that happening.
There are a lot of things you may not have seen as happening. Did you foresee the collapse of the welfare state? Did you predict the collapse of the housing market? Did you ever think that non-Hispanic whites would be a minority in this country? Or that just 8 years from now half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG? Fasten your seatbelts, we are in for a bumpy ride.
....Again....HOW would a third party rise above both established parties?
Since you’ve agreed “the Rules are stacked in favor of a two party system?”....you still haven;t explained how a third party would be any different now...saying that we have a collapsing welfare state isn’t going to drive it. Neither will people going into the streets. That may work for other nations but not here.....because the last thing this Gov. will do is stop the welfare people from getting their checks...not going to happen.
And you have to figure in the International pressure on our country as well, though we’d like to kiss them all goodbye. Just today the IMF has encouraged our congress to raise the debt ceiling because if we go down the other nations will.
Do you really think the International community is going to let this nation fall...nope..they will not. Rather they will and can and are putting pressure on our leadership to keep going no matter what...and this administration will comply....whatever it takes to prop us up will be done regardless of the fallout here...because the IMF, G-20, and the hosts of other controllers of world funds are not about to take a fall as well.
Greece just got another bailout...people have been in the streets but the cuts are happening just the same...and there is no change in governance. So people in the streets isn’t going to be more than just that here....people in the streets.
As for forseeing the things which have happened...yes many of us did see them coming...None of which has changed the two-party system.
I don’t believe the American people have the stomach for a civil war in the country. We already have a war on our southern border and yet no troops have been called out to protect it.
So just the American people getting their pants in a knot, of which I am one of them, and taking to the streets isn’t going to bring in a third party.
That may work for other nations but not here.....because the last thing this Gov. will do is stop the welfare people from getting their checks...not going to happen.
Something has to give. We can't afford the welfare state. Benefits will have to be cut or taxes raised. Neither solution is really acceptable. Just as in Greece, people will take to the streets demanding their stuff. I don't thik you have an appreciation for the dire straits this nation is in. An aging population that will double the number over 65 in the next 20 years will bankrupt this country unless we change the entitlement programs. And our annual debt servicing costs will approach $1 trillion in 10 years.
Greece just got another bailout...people have been in the streets but the cuts are happening just the same...and there is no change in governance. So people in the streets isnt going to be more than just that here....people in the streets.
I lived three years in Athens. The additional cuts have yet to be put in place. There are going to be much larger demonstrations and I doubt the current government will survive. Moreover, the EU is just postponing the inevitable. Greech will default. I doubt if the Germans want to fund the second round of bailouts nor will the EB. The bottom line is that the Greek drama is far from over.
I dont believe the American people have the stomach for a civil war in the country. We already have a war on our southern border and yet no troops have been called out to protect it.
There won't be a civil war but rather a class war. Rich versus poor. The gap will get larger. And the USA will take on a third world profile with those better off living in gated compounds and the underclass scuffling over government handouts. We have 44 million on foodstamps now. We are bringing in 125,000 legal foreign workers A MONTH now. Unemployment rates will be 8% and 9% as the norm. You can't run $1 trillion annual budget deficits forever.
So just the American people getting their pants in a knot, of which I am one of them, and taking to the streets isnt going to bring in a third party.
We will just agree to disagree. The status quo won't be an option.
” Also they seem to let the left monopolize their phones week after week.”
To make things worse, have you noticed how often dems lie to the screener by calling in as republicans or independents? Fairly frequently, a certain amount of republicans/conservative callers complain out that. I’ve never heard any repubs lie and call in as dems.
“And truthfully, that may not be worse for us than four years of a compromised and compromising RINO president whom the Dems could roll to a record degree”
You are very mistaken and perhaps uninformed on just how evil and dangerous BHO is, and his singular mission to destroy our country. A second term would fully unleash him to rapidly do more damage and orchestrate more peril to us in every imaginable way than perhaps you can imagine.
None of us wants a RINO, but there is no comparison with that and the present foreign, Marxist, radical, Muslim traitor who deeply hates our country, Israel - and us.
Yes.....I don't see any group that has the 'stability' and 'know how' to bring together a third party and 'sustain' it. Let alone the finances that would require. The Tea-Party has done exceptional in getting behind candidates which do represent their interests. That's what it does..... A "sufficient number of people"....to put the pressure on the elections...and will continue to do so. If the Tea-Party determines to be the "vehicle" for a third party it will loose the backing and popularity it now has...as well as it's power to affect elections. But to become a third party representation.....I don't believe possible it can sustain that...nor survive.
“I read about an additive, think it was 6 ounces of lacquer thinner or acetone don’t recall now to every 10 gallons that could be added to the tank that would help older engines.”
Magnets on the gas line work wonders. Oh, and don’t forget water injection.
Absolutely one of the worst problems c-spam has. They need new call screeners.
Not sure about the magnets or water but I did use the acetone in my van and it worked well for 150k miles.
Exactly, if you watch what he does not says its a perfect picture of destruction.
LOL, and I never exceed the speed limit. But it really is a marvelous machine and it saved my life (and it’s own) before I had it a week.
I was on the highway moving along at about 60MPH and just as i looked down to change the station on the radio, the guy in front of me actually stopped. I wasn’t tailgating but at 60 MPH it doesn’t take long to close the gap.
Anyway my car has something called ‘Distronic Plus’ which is actually radar which monitors the distance between you and the car in front. If it closes to a certain distance the brakes are automatically applied. In my case almost as soon as I looked down (maybe a second or two later), the nose of the car dove as the brakes were applied and I was thrown against the seat belt and when I looked up my car had stopped a few feet from the car in front of me.
