Of course we shouldn’t continue to support those who oppose our values and objectives. But I find it very difficult to believe the GOP will go the way of the Wigs or it become the third party. It’s a stronghold that can’t be taken down in one election....the balance of politicians within the congress etc. will make certain that does not happen...and the Democrates will even assist in that respect.

That was my point. This is a long term effort. It is not about one election. It takes time to build a party that is competitive at all levels of government. The rules are stacked in favor of the two party system.

But you still haven’t answered my question....HOW is it different now then the past when third parties have attempted to gain power. I know it’s a nice thought to imagine the GOP as the third party but that isn’t going to happen, the public recognizes them as one of the two party system our Gov. operates from.

What is different today is a collapsing welfare state. We can't continue on the same path. It is unsustainable. There is a coming crisis much like the Civil War when the GOP was born with Lincoln being its first nominee. The public is not going to follow both parties over the cliff. Most Americans have no idea how bad the situation is. People will be in the streets once they realize the government can't fulfill the promises it has made. Look to Greece and see what happens.

It’s like with Coke, and Pepsi....third beverages might take a share of the market but they are just that.. third. Same with Phone Companies and all other markets....there are generally three major players but always two remain at the top...the third is simply an option.

We didn't always have Democrat and Republican parties. Pepsi didn't start at the same time as Coke. Crisis will spawn new political alignments.

So “HOW” would a third party rise above both established parties? I just cannot see that happening.

There are a lot of things you may not have seen as happening. Did you foresee the collapse of the welfare state? Did you predict the collapse of the housing market? Did you ever think that non-Hispanic whites would be a minority in this country? Or that just 8 years from now half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG? Fasten your seatbelts, we are in for a bumpy ride.

....Again....HOW” would a third party rise above both established parties?

Since you’ve agreed “the Rules are stacked in favor of a two party system?”....you still haven;t explained how a third party would be any different now...saying that we have a collapsing welfare state isn’t going to drive it. Neither will people going into the streets. That may work for other nations but not here.....because the last thing this Gov. will do is stop the welfare people from getting their checks...not going to happen.

And you have to figure in the International pressure on our country as well, though we’d like to kiss them all goodbye. Just today the IMF has encouraged our congress to raise the debt ceiling because if we go down the other nations will.

Do you really think the International community is going to let this nation fall...nope..they will not. Rather they will and can and are putting pressure on our leadership to keep going no matter what...and this administration will comply....whatever it takes to prop us up will be done regardless of the fallout here...because the IMF, G-20, and the hosts of other controllers of world funds are not about to take a fall as well.

Greece just got another bailout...people have been in the streets but the cuts are happening just the same...and there is no change in governance. So people in the streets isn’t going to be more than just that here....people in the streets.

As for forseeing the things which have happened...yes many of us did see them coming...None of which has changed the two-party system.

I don’t believe the American people have the stomach for a civil war in the country. We already have a war on our southern border and yet no troops have been called out to protect it.

So just the American people getting their pants in a knot, of which I am one of them, and taking to the streets isn’t going to bring in a third party.
