I'm not convinced that's a wise option. Third parties rarely do well and take up space and money otherwise might change those running for office than "title" a third party.

It is also not a wise option to keep on supporting people who don't support your values and objectives. If the GOP establishment continues on its path of ignoring conservatives and what we want, then the GOP will go the way of the Whigs. It will become a third party.

Just can't see that as a winner for any who oppose this administration. Convince me why that would work this time around when it has failed so many other times. What's different now that would make it work?

I had to hold my nose and vote for McCain. I will never do that again. We are talking in the long term. Supposedly, 40% of the public are conservative. Unless the GOP starts becoming more conservative, it will lose power and influence. We want a choice, not an echo of the Dem party. Political parties are not forever. Unless they change, they will eventually fail.

We are at a crossroads in terms of which direction this country will go. This is not only about opposing this President, it is about opposing the welfare state. We had a Republican President and Congress that passed the prescription drug program under Medicare, an unfunded $7.3 trillion unfunded liability. We doubled the size of the federal education budget working with Ted Kennedy. And we had a Republican President supporting amnesty and rewarding people who broke our laws. We also had massive spending increases and a doubling of the national debt. The inevitable collapse of the welfare state will be the agent of change. If the GOP continues to try to keep it alive, then why should I or any conservative support them?

Of course we shouldn’t continue to support those who oppose our values and objectives. But I find it very difficult to believe the GOP will go the way of the Wigs or it become the third party. It’s a stronghold that can’t be taken down in one election....the balance of politicians within the congress etc. will make certain that does not happen...and the Democrates will even assist in that respect.

But you still haven’t answered my question....HOW is it different now then the past when third parties have attempted to gain power. I know it’s a nice thought to imagine the GOP as the third party but that isn’t going to happen, the public recognizes them as one of the two party system our Gov. operates from.

It’s like with Coke, and Pepsi....third beverages might take a share of the market but they are just that.. third. Same with Phone Companies and all other markets....there are generally three major players but always two remain at the top...the third is simply an option.

So “HOW” would a third party rise above both established parties? I just cannot see that happening.
