Bond was set at $50,000 for a teen who was charged along with two others with a hate crime after making derogatory statements and threatening someone Thursday night near Millennium Park.
The victim, a male of an unidentified age, called police about 8 p.m. after the three accosted him in the 100 block of North Michigan Avenue at a Metra station, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

It wasn’t an flash-mob attack on “whitey” though... the victim was gay and they called him some names.
“Zala would not confirm reports the comments were anti-gay in nature.”
So apparently it is something we’ve seen before.
Thanks Kenton.
Hate is a motive, not the crime.
I read Hillbuzz regularly—the black gangs take the train to the gay part of town and find some gay guy to beat up. I doubt the victim was just white, had to be gay to get this headline.
I don’t agree with what these guys did. I’ve been in situations in my lifetime where people made ugly threatening comments. I didn’t like it one bit. Do I think they deserved to be arrested charged with a felony and found guilty of a hate crime? Do I think there should have been a $50,000.00 bail set?
No.
I don’t think hurting someone’s feelings reaches that level of infraction. Harm the person or damage his property, okay.
We had a saying when I was a kid. I’m sure most of you have heard it.
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
Yes, these guys were assholes. Since when are we guaranteed on the penalty of a felony and prison time, that we won’t come into contact with assholes? I don’t know about you all, but I’m just not that fragile.
I don’t need to have some government agency place nurse maid, and swoop in and protect me to this extent.
Go over and roust the guys, perhaps even charge them with a misdemeanor and give them community service. Don’t go nuts over it.
Actually illegal immigrants and homosexuals both trump Blacks these days.
I agree completely, "Hate crimes" are total BS.
I wonder, if the victim had gotten so upset that he called his attackers by the "N Word", would they have called it a wash, hate crime-wise?
Was this a flash mob attack?
There’s one aspect of this we’re not addressing here. Some public parks become “cruising” areas with homosexuals “hookin up” there. Was this an unspoken aspect of what was actually taking place there?
It makes me wonder what would happen if a number of white fathers from the vicinity of the park went over there and shooed the patrons out, if they’d be charged with a hate crime.
Perhaps I’m off base, but with the homosexual angle on this, it did cause me to wonder if we were getting the full story.
There is absolutely no chance that these black youths were charged with a racial hate crime against a white heterosexual male.
None.
Of course there isn't. I thought this was a real "man-bites-dog" story until I re-read it.
See my current tagline...
There should be no difference. Eric Holder and liberals in general are “acting stupidly”.
These deeply misunderstood urban youths are accused of a "gay" hate crime not a racial hate crime, so you are correct
Good observation. In many areas, there’s an official policy of ignoring homosexual behavior in public parks or facilities. I suppose if a few dozen mothers with a crowd of kids about to have accidents started shouting, “Get those fags out of our public bathrooms!” they could all be arrested for “hate crimes.”
Blacks are notorious for attacking gays.
I worked with a couple of black ex-cons who would regularly go to the ‘basement’(where the gay F Train/Orgies would take place)’ of some gay bars and beat and rob the gays.
However, I’ve also worked with several gays in the restaurant business who have had enough of black on gay violence and are quite proficient in self defense.
Seriously, some of these lip wristed pickle chuggers have some damn good fighting skills.
Just another law in which to charge people if they don't comply with the wishes of those in authority.
