Scandal: The ATF's acting director spills the beans on a program involving multiple agencies that not only supplied guns to Mexican gangs and drug cartels but may also have used taxpayer dollars to buy them.
The official story that Fast and Furious, also known as Project Gunrunner, was merely a botched sting operation run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives designed to track and stop cross-border arms-trafficking collapsed this week in secret testimony by ATF acting director Kenneth Melson.
Unwilling to be made a scapegoat in the affair, which resulted in the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry using one of the trafficked guns, Melson, acting ATF director since April 2009, testified behind closed doors on Monday before two congressional oversight committees. He appeared with his own private attorney, rather than lawyers from the Department of Justice. His explosive testimony needs to be heard loudly and publicly.
According to a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder from Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, Melson testified that he learned the full details of the operation only after Terry's death made the operation public and he reviewed internal documents documents that have been withheld by DOJ that made him "sick to his stomach."
ABC News reports that Melson wanted to appear before oversight committees earlier, but Eric Holder's Justice Department sought to delay his testimony. Pressured to resign and unwilling to take the fall, Melson seized the opportunity to tell his story.
"If his account is accurate, then ATF leadership appears to have been effectively muzzled while the DOJ sent over false denials and buried its head in the sand," the letter said. "That approach distorted the truth and obstructed our investigation."

Obama was trying to emulate Clinton and secure some loot from nefarious deals similar to Clintons, but looks like Obama (the dumb) may have gotten caught, well only in the eyes of those who would see. Not that anything official will come of it. (Yep, seen it before, just move on! No controlling legal authority here! Maybe war with Mexico, a few tens of thousands of cannon fodder dead, but what care, what care!)
I merely went over the speed limit . . .
It is being alleged that the Zetas are working with Hezbollah in Mexico......could this be another means of arming terrorist groups like those in the middle east?
Mexico - Is Hezbollah working with the drug cartels?
The sudden increase in beheadings in Mexico are possibly linked to training and influence from islamic groups.
What did the president know and when did he know it?Sometimes I wish we all would adopt a particular slogan as a tagline.
One such time was at the start of 2010 when I adopted "DRAFT PALIN." I'm not ready to drop that yet. But this quote is a new candidate:What did the president know and when did he know it?
Unwilling to be made a scapegoat in the affair, which resulted in the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry using one of the trafficked guns, Melson, acting ATF director since April 2009, testified behind closed doors on Monday before two congressional oversight committees. His explosive testimony needs to be heard loudly and publicly.I just had a flashback to Crystal Mangum's Duke Lacrosse Team "rape" hoax. Duke U.'s immediate reaction was to tell the members of the team to rely on Duke to handle the case rather than their own parents and their own lawyers. The parents found out, and they were absolutely correct in going ballistic over it - as later events quickly showed, the university was eager to sell them down the river. In that situation, counting on them was absolutely the worst thing they could have done.
Special prosecuter is exactly where this is headed, but first Issa has to lay the foundation for calling for one and it looks like we are just about there. Issa has done a great job bringing this latest and deadly Obama Administration scandal out in the open.
Good posts (46 and 47)
To their credit, it looks like Issa and Grassley are building up to that, laying enough evidence out there to counter charges of political motivations.
With the linguini spined, weepy golf partner of Obama, (Speaker Boehner) as the leader of the House pubbies, what are the Republicans worth in the way of manliness and guts? And when you factor in the plethora of RINOS, this scandal, which should be one of monumental proportions, will be like a little wind in the air, ruffling a few leaves and then departing without an afterthought. The effeminate Republicans will shun attacking Obama, and the media will concoct and support the coverup.Compare this to Iran/Contra. Look at the screaming and hollering that went on in the media over that.
In this case though, since it's the dems running guns (and running them to enemies of the US, instead of to friendlies), the media is absolutely silent.
Makes you wonder if the GOP isn’t on board with the plan.

Do a Find on gunrunner.
You might want to independently post this if it hasnt been found by someone else yet. This right here is enough to get Holder admitting to the expansion of Gunrunner.
Thanks for the file. I have posted it today.

I would be curious if the timeline for beginning of the gunwalking corresponds with the timeline of the acceleration in crime by the mexican cartels.... I remember making note to myself a while back that it seemed like they were becoming more brazen, Mexican towns losing law enforcement, stories of mass graves found, beheadings, kidnappings etc..... seems like its been the last two years that it really has gotten way out of control down there.... isn’t that about when gunwalker started?
