Perfect. I will happily support the right of any candidate who tells them to “go pound sand”.
Also, since being educated on Free Republic, I have learned that we have plenty of tyrants on our side too! I never knew anyone that qualified as a tyrant before FR.
To expand, I have concluded that just like Sean Hannity in the “Casey-31 Days-Anthony” outcome, that some can be so invested in a principle and philosophy that one can lose his humanity, and even ability to reason. Freedom, Justice, the Constitution can be so strictly and politically enforced in a person that they dump all three thinking that they are elevating them.
I take exception to the “influential” part. They’re actually searching for relevancy.
On the other hand, from looking them up on google, I see they're affiliated in some way with Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council, long-time organizations that most I and most social-issue FReepers trust.
I mention this because have no idea how long "The Family Leader" has been in existence, what experience they bring to the process, or what kind of political track record they have. This "vow" thing seems pretty dicey to me as a tactic, inasmuch as it would exclude almost all potential candidates if they considered it literally and honestly.
(Of course if they read it in a rather elastic and evasive way, some of them might sign on --- but then, the whole discussion would be about political hypocrisy.)
I believe in politically opposing the public honor, reward, and incentive given to sexual disorder --- which pretty much describes the gay advocacy groups, and many others besides! --- but count me unconvinced that the Family Leaders' "vow" approach will yield anything positive.
Open to argument and counter-argument. Anyone?

if they wanted to be relavent they would focus on ONE point that the nation would RELATE to. That would be the federal marriage amendment.
everything else is self serving nonsense. Some goof go nowhere candidate will sign it out of desperation and make the whole field look even more ridiculous.
If they all do this, it'll send a clear message to the public that they all support freedom of expression and speech.
Of course, a smartass candidate or two will gleefully sign, hoping to show the others up. But all it will show is that he/she/it is a creep who doesn't understand, respect or adhere to the Constitution of this Republic.

What about the board members of this organization? If I recall correctly, over the years there's been plenty of big name holy rollers who strayed from the marital path big time....same as lots of big name pols.
Let a member of this unfamiliar Iowa "family group" who is without sin cast the first primary endorsement.

They started out a good group but about a couple of years ago they lost their way and since have been pretty much a self-serving group for Bob Vander Plaats.
It is tragic as a couple of those early on were very great conservative leaders in Iowa. I HAD the highest respect for them. Notice the past tense.
Could you fill us in with more details? Is it true that they are electoral poison? What have they done? How did they go off-track? Are the other Iowa conservatives who know the score and have blown the whistle on them?

I think it is stupid to ask people to sign. I suppose if you don’t have a problem signing it because you agree with the content, it isn’t pandering.
