I'm sick of the shared sacrifice charade
Nealz Nuse ^ | 7/7/2011 | Neal Boortz

Do you notice how the Democrats are cranking up the class warfare rhetoric? The ObamaMedia, of course, is loving it, and they’ve shown their eagerness to promote the message right into the election. Just know this … the media – with exceptions of course – is dedicated to the reelection of The Community Organizer. The only real tactical question is just how obvious they are going to be about it. The dumb masses must be reeled in --- so let’s not make it too obvious.

Actually … it looks like the dumb masses have already been reeled in. I cited these statistics yesterday, and a listener asked for a source. So here you are: According to Gallup’s 2011 Economic and Finance poll, 57% of Americans believe that money and wealth in this country should be more evenly distributed among a larger population. If you are a Democrat, that number increases to 70% who believe the government should tax the rich more heavily in order to spread the wealth around. About one-half of Americans think that the government should actually take care of this redistribution. Unbelievable. What will happen to the productive class in this society if they are punished more for their success? Well that’s a no brainer. They will be less successful. Some (many?) will just say “the hell with it” and fold their tents. Some of those tents go into storage and their owners just retire. Other tents get pitched in foreign lands. You do not get more of a behavior you punish. I’d say confiscation of wealth is a high form of punishment for a productive member of society.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need, Comrade.

“When Boortz is right, he’s really right.”

That is very true. Even when he is wrong - which is fairly often - he does show his math and how he arrived at his conclusion. One of the few talk show hosts who comes across as a real person.

I am all for shared sacrifice, BUT the people clamoring for it never feel any of the pain!!!

Politicians of all parties. Members of the government class

For once I would like to see the elected officials & bureaucrats make a giant sacrifice!!! They caused the deficit, THEY should pay for IT!!!

I bet you a billion Indians and Chinese who get paid $3 a day would love to split up rich Momma Welfare’s $3000 monthly check among themselves.

When I was studying political science in college over 30 years ago (one of the classes I chose to fill the minimal humanities requirement for the engineering curriculum), Gallup was known for excruciatingly scientific polls. Once it had zeroed in on a person it wanted to poll, it would be a bigger pest than an overdue credit card. If after great effort Gallup still failed to pick its target’s mind, it would pursue a designated alternate person. The process could literally take weeks.

If a poll of this caliber says 57% of Americans want bare naked wealth redistribution, in preference to something like an economy that has fewer people falling into a poverty level, well America is on the final slide to hell. It has the votes to vote itself there. But Gallup isn’t that picky on all its polls. Some of them could be badly biased being based on who was available to answer the phone at the time the poll was done. Can’t talk to person = don’t bother with person and don’t try to find substitute.

"I'm all for shared sacrifice. I think the bottom 50% of income earners, who earn 15% of all income and pay ZERO in taxes should pay 15% in taxes. I think they should also sacrifice the EITC. Meanwhile, The top 10% earn 44% of income yet pay 70% of taxes. I think in the name of fairness, they should only pay 44% of all taxes"

YEA! Tax the Poor. I've been saying that for a long time now.

Believable. DEFUND socialist collectives. DEFUND socialist economies. Go Galt on a personal expenditure level. YOU save. The Marxist/Socialist/Totalitarian-in-Chief loses. When he is swept out of power in disgust by the useful idiots who elected him, you can go back to normal spending habits. Useful idiots will always spend...no matter who is in the WH. It's war by other means patriots.

When does the government share in the sacrifice?

When does the government share in the sacrifice?

When conservatives own the Senate, House , and presidency.

For it to be real sacrifice, it must be voluntary.

When it is taken from you without recourse, it is simple theft.

Whenever someone gets ‘something’ for ‘nothing’; you can expect that person to increase their demands, and become more dependant upon the hand-out.

I have no problem with taxing the poor at a lower rate than the rich - but my bottom line is this; EVERYONE pays something. No one get’s a free ride.

We currently have 50% of our American population (not counting the illegals) reaping the benefits of taxation, but contributing NOTHING to replenish the resources they are depleting.

Even a 5% tax would put some of their skin in the game.

We currently have 50% of our American population (not counting the illegals) reaping the benefits of taxation, but contributing NOTHING to replenish the resources they are depleting.

We are therefore at the tipping point. Unless this changes, and soon, there is no doubt in my mind that society will collapse.

In a better world, voting would be limited to those who actually pay taxes and/or own real estate and/or serve in the Armed Forces. JMHO

voting would be limited to those who actually pay taxes

Everyone who buys a product or (in many states) uses a service pays taxes. Everyone who owns real or (in many jurisdictions) significant personal property pays taxes.

Bob,
Are you actually expecting them to cut back on salaries, benefits, perks, or what/where?

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/124727554.html

"Cost savings from worker contributions to health care and retirement, taking effect today as part of the new collective bargaining laws, will swing the Kaukauna School District from a $400,000 budget deficit to an estimated $1.5 million surplus…. The district… plans to hire teachers and reduce class size.Let’s stop and think of all the protesters who carried signs asserting that their opposition to Scott Walker was for the children."

this on a federal level can happen if/when CONSERVATIVES run the gubmint.
