Casey Anthony juror Jennifer Ford said today that she and the other jurors cried and were "sick to our stomachs" after voting to acquit Casey Anthony of charges that she killed her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
"I did not say she was innocent," said Ford, who had previously only been identified as juror number 3. "I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."
The jury's jaw dropping not guilty verdict shocked court observers, but it was also a difficult moment for the panel, Ford said in an exclusive interview with ABC News. No one from the jury was willing to come out and talk to the media in the hours after the verdict.
"Everyone wonders why we didn't speak to the media right away," Ford said. "It was because we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying and not just the women. It was emotional and we weren't ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial."
Instead of murder, Casey Anthony, 25, was found guilty of four counts of lying to law enforcement and could be released from jail as early as Thursday.
Ford praised the jurors.
"They picked a great bunch of people, such high integrity. And there was high morale," she said. "We all joked. We are like a big group of cousins."
Casey Anthony Prosecutor: 'All Came Down to Cause of Death'
Earlier today, the prosecutor and an alternate juror agreed on why the jury had refused to convict Anthony: They couldn't prove how little Caylee Anthony died.
"It all came down to the evidence," said Florida state attorney Jeff Ashton on "The View."

Leaving aside that the court had to recruit folks from outside Orlando, the special voir dire, and the sequestering, if I were a juror and looked over to see Geraldo Rivera, Greta von Sustern, Judge Jeanine, Nancy Grace, et al. sitting in the front row, I’d logically assume it was a fairly sensational trial.
Yes, thank you. I am watching the alternate "juror" Russell Huegler being interviewed right now. As I suspected, a complete imbecile . I took notes so here are some of his comments:
"According to Judge Perry's instructions, if you have the slightest reservation you have to vote not guilty."
"We thought there was a horrific accident."
"Here were the three main problems:
1. "Prosecution did not show any motive. Why would a good mother who loved her daughter suddenly kill her?"
2. "Didn't buy" that Casey was a party girl..."she had a good support system."
3. "Prosecution couldn't show how Caylee died."
Mark Fuhrman just came on after him and ripped him a new one.
What is worse, the guy is a high school GOVERNMENT teacher. Talk about the blind leading the blind. So wonder kids are turning out stupid.
Well try looking at the tiny picture. The picture of a 2 year old girl wrapped in duct tape and garbage bags cast into the swamp by the bitch of a mother she was unlucky enough to have. Where is her justice?
Your post creates in my mind a new word - “funnysad”.
That is a cop-out and a non-sequitur. This same idiot jury would have convicted a man with far less evidence.
They also would have convicted someone in a self-defense situation just for not reporting the incident.
If they are prepared to let her off they should be prepared to articulate why. You show me a body in a swamp wrapped in duct tape and stuffed into a garbage bag the defense is going to have a really tough time convincing a reasonable person it was not homicide.
You show me a mother who doesn't care where her daughter is for a month and you have a real hard time convincing a reasonable person she didn't have anything to do with her death.
Some half-baked story of drowning with absolutely no supporting evidence isn't going to cut it.
And that is well before you get to all the other damning evidence in the case.
Even if you believe the defense this woman sets new lows in negligence of a parent, and yet these idiots call her "a good mother?"
If you are defending them then I have a huge problem with you.
Note to jurors - may you never sleep another full night in your lives.
Note to the Anthony family - rot in hell.
“How does a child accidentally drown in a pool and then winds up in a swamp...”
Let’s say that the little girl did drown in a pool. Who determined she was truly dead and couldn’t be saved? I have some second cousins and their child drowned early one morning in a pool. They did CPR on a cold, blue child until EMS arrived. CPR had been started so EMS continued CPR until arriving at the hospital where the E.R. doctor called the code and pronounced the child deceased. My point is this: on the drive to the hospital, both the Mother and Father felt sure that the child would be revived. They completely ignored the coldness and blue coloring... their hopes shattered but I feel it is relevent. Actually, it was more likely that their little one had been dead for several hours but hope still persisted. Just a thought (a sad one, though)
So...beyond reasonable doubt. It seems to have meant to this jury is that rational thought, reason and making reasonable connections with the circumstantial evidence, and disposing of logic to rush to a conclusion which served their own desires of emancipation and on to fame.
I am just sick about this verdict. What an outrage and slap in the face to mothers who do not murder their children! I worry about the level of intelligence of the American jury pool- between the government schools, tv, video games- is there any hope?
I was ready to give her the lethal injection myself! As a mother you know, you worry when your kids are out of your sight- whether they are 2 or 12! You don’t get a “Bella Vita” tatto while your baby is rotting in a swamp with duct tape over her mouth.
Jurors that can’t judge! Indeed. The ethos of liberalism.

Please dont say that....we should pray that they get right with God...and all of us too!
Geraldo Rivera said she was a good mother. I could not believe my ears when he said that. Talk about poor judgement.
So many people try to explain the specifics of why they think the jury may have been right. I could list all of the evidence and the testimonies of experts-who-have-no-ulterior-motive which prove to me, “beyond any reasonable doubt,” of this woman’s guilt. There is plenty. I won’t make this list here because it’s a waste of time. Those who have chosen to be blind couldn’t see the truth, anyway.
Disgusting.
Good for Jennifer Ford. She apparently didn’t pimp herself out to give this interview.
I paid very little attention to the story and zero attention to the actual trial so I can’t weigh in on the verdict other to say it appears to be the CSI effect. Most cases are tried circumstantially and very few have the “gotcha” that the CSI geniuses come up with week after week.
Another thing that comes to mind- why was Casey so SHOCKED when she heard the verdict? Because she knew she was guilty and she could not believe she got away with it.
Welcome to America.
Would the HLN anchors or cable news like CNN or FOX who made have been in the courtroom, attend every trial in Florida? Don’t think so, that is a sign of sensationalism.
I was looking for the right phrase. Thank you for sharing it.
Dennis Miller said tonight that the jurors are morons.
I know some people, like Hannity, are agreeing with the verdict, but I would have voted guilty.
Just the fact that this precious baby was missing for a month and Casey didn't report it, makes me sick...
