'God the Father' Banished by Mainline Ddenomination
WorldNetDaily ^ | July 5, 2011 | Bob Unruh

The United Church of Christ, the denomination whose Chicago pastor Jeremiah Wright blasted the United States and white people for years from the pulpit while Barack Obama sat in his pews, has decided to banish God "the Father" from its organizational documents.

A report from Eric Anderson on the denomination's website confirmed that delegates to the UCC's "General Synod 28" agreed late Monday to a series of proposed amendments to the constitution and bylaws. The vote was 613 in favor of the changes, 171 against and 10 abstaining.

The changes include a pointed deletion of a reference to God "as heavenly Father," which has been part of Christendom's description of the Trinity for millennia – the three persons of God being the heavenly Father, Christ the Son and Savior, and the Holy Ghost, the counselor and comforter.

If people are willfully hell-bent on getting it wrong, better they do so now before we are stuck with them later.

And not just these freaks but all of the freaks.

Is it like they are ever going to be missed?

I don’t think so.

And from the United Church of Christ came the Unitarian Universalists.

A few notable members of UCC (hardly a bunch of “right-wingers”):

Sen Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Sen Max Baucus (D-MT), Gov Jon Corzine (D-NJ), Gov Howard Dean (D-VT), Sen Bob Graham (D-FL), Vice President Hubert Humphrey, President Barack Obama, Sen William Proxmire (D-WI), Julian Bond, William Sloane Coffin, Bill Moyers, Leonard Pitts, and Andrew Young.

Didn’t Jesus. until the final moments on the cross, continually refer to God as his father?

Mainstream refers to the Seven Sister of Protestantism. They started out as Puritans, Episcopalians, Methodists, and so forth. But they all gradually moved further and further to the left.

So, now, regretably, Mainstream or Mainline means watered down and liberal, for the most part.

Any resemblance between Jeremiah Wright's "church" and actual Christianity is purely coincidental. His theology is pure Marx with a few biblical references thrown in to confuse the ignorant and gullible.

I still say there's no way Hussein could have sat in that church for 20 years and be totally oblivious to what was being preached. Then again, I've heard he used to teach constitutional law, and the constitution seems like a totally alien concept to him.

All of these mainline denominations have been taken over by democrats at the highest levels. They’re losing members, but they don’t seem to care. They have no problem with abortion, gay pastors, gay marriage, and for the most part, they criticize Israel.

Of course they’re in full communion with the ELCA.

Aye, for me the "beginning of the end" of my ELCA affiliation was the "Formula of Agreement" with the Reformed, accelerated by the feminazi language of the 2007 ELCA hymnal Evangelical Lutheran Worship. My departure was not about sex,but about language.

OK, I've talked my self into a:

Lutheran (EL C S*A) Ping!

* as of August 19, AD 2009, a liberal protestant SECT, not part of the holy, catholic and apostolic CHURCH.

Be rooted in Christ!

Bishop Mark Hanson of the ELCA applauds the UCC decision enthusiastically.

Pastor Eric writes: "The prize for not using a pronoun for God has to go to Bishop Mark Hanson, who recently said in a statement to the ELCA News Service, "You can bet your life that God will be faithful to God's promise, because God bet the life of Jesus on God's faithfulness..." It seem to me that Bishop Hanson should use a pronoun when Bishop Hanson speaks about God or Bishop Hanson might confuse Bishop Hanson's listeners."

This is the preferred UCC statement of faith; they pride themselves on being neither creedal nor confessional:

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:

You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death.

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.

You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.

You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in your realm which has no end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.

Gee, makes me want to hum kumbaya.

Too bad it only tangentially resembles a Christian creed. Very tangentially.

the “reformation”(revolution) continues unabated....if you let everyone make up their own rules....they will. It is far too difficult to obey all those ancient rules so I will make life a little easier.....let’s see, I can’t stand my wife so I think I’ll dump her and remarry someone else (new rule Henry VIII)....perhape I really don’t want this baby I’m carrying.....well, I think there’s a planned parenthood clinic nearby (supported by mainly Democrats) so how bad can an abortion be?????We don’t really have to attend Mass, just drop in any protestant church, sing a few songs, listen to Rev Wright preach “christianity” and never mind all that receiving the Body and Blood of Christ stuff, that’s all 2,000 years old...we don’t need all that stuff now. However we do it is right....just ask us!!!!!

The Scriptures refer to “many antichrists”. An antichrist is one who denies Jesus is God in the flesh. If one denies the Son, one does not know the Father. This holds as well in the sense that if they merely acknowledge the Son - as they imagine Him to be, not as He really is - they therefore in actuality don’t truly acknowledge the Son and neither do they know the Father.

Too bad it only tangentially resembles a Christian creed. Very tangentially.

The only semblance is to a whitewashed tomb (cf Mt 19)

Nowhere in this statement is there any definition of the relationship between "God, the eternal spirit" and "Jesus, the man of Nazareth".

For UCC's (and many others) Father is the dreaded F-word.

Considering that he has been described as "Bill Clinton in an alb" and that he seems stuck in the 60's....yeah, man.
