The United Church of Christ, the denomination whose Chicago pastor Jeremiah Wright blasted the United States and white people for years from the pulpit while Barack Obama sat in his pews, has decided to banish God "the Father" from its organizational documents.
A report from Eric Anderson on the denomination's website confirmed that delegates to the UCC's "General Synod 28" agreed late Monday to a series of proposed amendments to the constitution and bylaws. The vote was 613 in favor of the changes, 171 against and 10 abstaining.
The changes include a pointed deletion of a reference to God "as heavenly Father," which has been part of Christendom's description of the Trinity for millennia – the three persons of God being the heavenly Father, Christ the Son and Savior, and the Holy Ghost, the counselor and comforter.

Apparently the United Church of Christ is a mainline Church, one of the Seven Sisters.

The great irony is that by doing so, they deny the entire Good News, which, at its heart, is that God is our father. And they also imply that Jesus is a liar, since he taught that God is our father, and thus, the Holy Spirit is a liar because He inspired the Gospel writers to say the same. By denying the fatherhood of God, they deny the whole Trinity, and therefore cannot be Christian, much less the “United Church of Christ”.
God is my Father. Jesus is my Savior. The Fatherhood of God is not just an archaic option. Understanding God as our Father puts things into proper perspective. Jesus could have made some other suggestion as to how to address God. He knew what we needed.

I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. People who respect our Holy Trinity, need to pay attention to the dynamics of religion being gamed in the U.S. these days.

I appreciate the attempt at correction, and I’m not going to challenge you on point. My take on it is that a religion can only be mainstream as long as they express belief in main stream Christian dogma. The Holy Trinity is about as bedrock to Christianity as it gets.
Whatever the United Church of Christ was, it has evidently moved on down the road to an alternate reality.
This shouldn’t surprise us much in light of what was accepted by the Church with regard to Jeremiah Wright.
Having said this, I am not here to trash members of this religion. I would only ask them to be honest with themselves and ask the all important question, “Has this church morphed out from under me, and my beliefs? If so, can I remain a member in good conscience?”
That’s a personal issue. The choice is not something I’m going to trash someone over. If they want me to explain why I might disagree, I would be willing to do so, and attempt to be reasonable in the process.
