I know the Bushes wanted Mitch Daniels to be their guy, not Perry and I know they got publicly behind Kay Barely Republican to unseat Perry as governor. So, there is something of a rift there.
It would not shock me if the pro-abort Bush women dislike Perry for some of his Pro-Life signings and you’ll hear from sniping from them if either Palin or Bachmann emerge on the ticket.
It also struck me that Perry was very vocal about border issues (while tiptoeing about whether Mexican illegals were actually criminals) while Dubya Bush was still President, yet I don’t recall Perry ever criticising Bush by name, always blaming “Washington” or “Congress” or “the federal government”.
I think the Bushes will quietly support the ticket, whoever it is, but their participation and cooperation will probably be less with a Tea Party conservative as the nominee than with a beltway RINO.
That’s the way it used to be for all President. They did their job, and when it was over they stayed out of the way.
Of course, Democraps like Carter and Clinton can’t do that. Obama will be even worse.
He will just let his old abortion lovin momma do it, that is the Bush way.
I would refer you to an National Review article from a few months ago about Perry. He and the Bushes (or as he calls them the bushies) do not like each other. They endorsed Kay Bailey over Perry while Sarah Palin endorsed Perry. Could that be why Barbie Bush wanted Palin to stay in Alaska? But yes the Perry’s and the Bush’s do not like each other and if Perry runs dont be too surprised if Jeb Bush gets in.
Palin would never accept a number two spot again, IMHO. And she is too popular for it to ever come to that, so is a moot question.
