and that’s exactly what my family said last night after watching his inane ramblings about the Anthony verdict— at LEAST Dick Morris, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove weren’t on to opine last night!

Hey, hehe, that SOB looks guilty as **** lets throw him in the slammer!!! Yeah, that's the ticket. Proof beyond a reasonable doubt???? WTF is that??? We don't need that stinking Constitution when it fits MY needs and opinions. So now common sense is the standard for convictions.......right on FReeper!!

You're disgusting. That wasn't what I was saying. You should just join the "it makes me feel good jurors." Common sense needs to be used in a circumstantial case. And I guess if no one sees you commit murder and you get rid of all evidense, which wasn't the case in this situation, then you can't be convicted, There was plenty of evidense and if you're intelligent enough to put 2 & 2 together it should have been a guilty verdict.

I’m curious. What do you think the jury was punishing the prosecution FOR? The sequestering? Condescending tone?

You write: “I can’t wrap my mind around such stupidity but vengeance—”.
I mean, it’s harder for me to wrap my mind around the concept that a jury would choose to punish sequestering or tone, as opposed to punishing a mother for murdering her own child.

And here’s why it’s easy for me to believe the stupidity:

The defense successfully cast a small amount of doubt on several elements of the prosecution case.

The mistake that I believe the jurors made, while it shows ignorance, is actually a very common mistake that otherwise intelligent people OFTEN make.

It is the mistake of not recognizing that a chain of unlikely events rapidly becomes not simply unlikely, but realistically impossible, i.e. only possible in imagination and theory.

I’ve abandoned Fox for degenerating totally into tabloid TV with its obsessive coverage of the Anthony trial which they (and other cable networks) have turned into an American soap opera, shutting out major news of national and international importance. They ought to have given the coverage to Geraldo who loves and specializes in such tripe. These media ghouls are probably eager for another murder they can sensationalize in hopes of boosting their ratings. Bread and circuses! C-Span is looking better every day.

There are murderers sitting in jail today that were convicted with less evidence, and they be must wondering at Casey’s good luck.
Some even convicted without the presence of a dead body.

My thoughts are that - some juries confuse “no doubt” with “reasonable doubt”.

There is a bit over on hotair that highlights another possibility - that with many americans hooked on shows like CSI, there is probably a misunderstanding now that there should always be a forensic smoking gun.
More and more you hear people talk about circumstantial evidence as if it is “no” evidence at all.
Circumstantial can be just as important - and helps connect the dots.

the way this country is going, republicans and democrats will both have to be selected to the jury 50/50. We basically are at war.

The way the justice system is going, if I ever got in trouble I think I'd ask for a judge to decide my case. I wouldn't put my life in the hands of a jury.

"Well, I hope that this is a lesson to those of you who have indulged in media assassination for three years. Bias, prejudice and incompetent talking heads saying what would be and how to be. I'm disgusted by some of the lawyers that have done this, and I can tell you that my colleagues from coast to coast and border to border have condemned this whole process of lawyers getting on television and talking about cases that they don't know a damn thing about. And don't have the experience to back up their words or the law to do it. Now you learned a lesson, and we appreciate the jury and those of you that have been objective and professional. We like it. Others, we're going to be talking to again. Thank you very much," (Defense Lawyer Cheney Mason)

I find that I don't have the extensive vocabulary necessary to write exactly how much I agree with Mr. Mason. He ought to be the campaign manager for a few conservatives I could name!

Straight talk from a lawyer!!

AMAZING!!

Fascinating.....do you have any backup/links for any of that info?

Don't have links, but that was reveealed in testimony. George admitted on the stand that the tape was his.

Mark Fuhrman on Fox News, 7/6/11, top of the 3rd hour: "THIS JURY TOO STUPID TO HAVE A DRIVER'S LICENSE."

Other comments (paraphrased):

"This jury had an unreasonable expectation of forensics...their verdict was not based on looking at the evidence...it wasn't that couldn't look at the evidence, they didn't look at it...they were not being reasonable in what they can see and should see...there was no ability to determine the cause of death because of the decomposition, Casey should not have been rewarded for that and she was (rewarded)...I cannot believe they looked at the same case as the rest of us...this isn't the media's fault, it's the jury's fault."

Amazing. These people are just like liberals. Ignoring facts while working off non thinking scripts. As far as George knowing; I believe he suspected. If she did accidentally drown, Casey was responsible and should have been convicted on a lesser charge. I doubt seriously the child did because of the Gatorade bottle and needle. Why would Casey have those things? I still believe their not guilty was emotional and personal with no thought that a little girl is dead. Wonder when one of them will come forward saying they were wrong.

The jury didn’t want to speak to the media. Not one of them!
They knew what they had done..................

I think George said that it was funny was due to lack of a better word. I think he really meant to say what you are saying is ludicrous. That , of course, played right into the hands of Baez.

They looked like bullies. That’s why. Don’t get me wrong. The state put on an excellent case; but juries mostly go by emotions.

Throughout history has there ever been a murder of a 2 year old that was premeditated?

Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, etc.

I had to go and read about this, I was unaware these items were found at the crime scene.

I learned more about our legal system with this trial.

Your points are valid and helpful. the whole point of the law is to NOT go with our emotions.

Co sign. Idiots like this - who buy that a mother “accidentally” kills her baby and then “accidentally” parties like its 1999 again, and just “accidentally” was very interested, even obsessed in “how to kill” with neck breaking and chloroform, and “accidentally” lies on the witness stand about being abused by her father AND brother, and watches her mother, the spawn of this filth, “accidentally” perjure herself - just one big accident.

Embarrassed? Indeed. But more ashamed that some filth would basically laugh at a baby’s death and choose to deliberately ignore piles of evidence.
