Hacker Allegedly Leaks Part of Florida’s Voter Database

This is a doozy, even as it's still unverified. According to Anonymous, hacker @Abhaxas just leaked a lengthy text file revealing part of Florida's voter database. Included are voter statistics, candidates, and electoral race data.

In the release, Abhaxas writes:

So, this is a little ironic. Here is inside details of florida voting systems. Now.. who still believes voting isn't rigged? If the United States Government can't even keep their ballot systems secure, why trust them at all? FAIL!

I didn’t see where it indicated the information included individual voting habits.

Because that’s not what happened.

Where I used to live, you can just put in the name and county of anyone and get their address and their voting record (though not who they voted for, but when they voted). Looks like public records to me.

I will never trust any ballots other than paper ballots, no all electronic voting. In my area, we mark a paper ballot and a scanner counts it. The paper ballots are retained in case a recount is necessary and then they can be re-scanned or hand counted. We have absentee ballots and I hope the voter is checked before getting one.

As far as voter rolls, I guess these are held in an electronic data base and the precincts get a print out to mark or check in the voters. I can only hope the data base is secure and not accessible to misuse.

Of course, we all can agree voter ID is a necessity as is proof of citizenship when registering for the data base.

How does it show the vote can be hacked?

Go back to the mechanical machines.Have the totals verified by all party poll watchers.Deliver the totals by hand to the board of elections for tabulation. If the chain of custody is secure it only becomes a matter of arithmetic.Hackers become totally irrelevant. And building modern mechanical machines will create business opportunities and jobs.

Is it only me to whom this sounds odd? Detained for feeding the homeless?

Distributing food without required permits, probably from a van without health-dept mandated hand-washing facility, etc, etc. Lots of ways for city bureaucrats to shut you down.

I'm going to guess that some complaints were made by the businesses around the feeding station, who didn't want homeless people congregating and repelling their customers.

Why a hacker would “hack” into the system is beyond me.

I would say it helps to add to the cause for Gov't controlling the internet. Once you build up support that our entire voting system is subject to hacking, either factual or not through the media it helps to breed the control mentality.

Throw in all the other hacking, and you see a pattern.

Its really a matter of the government wanting to feed the people themselves i think. More votes that way. They can make up any excuse they want to stop people from performing charitable functions but that’s really what it comes down to.

Not sure how this is a problem with FL gov’t security... Like you said, it’s information that is available publicly - although you probably wouldn’t be aware of that unless you’ve worked for a political party, or on campaigns.

One CANNOT see who voted for whom on these information roles. You only see the party they are registered to and whether or not they’ve voted in recent elections...

Also, paying for a CD with the info. on it isn’t the same as it being private information — it’s like a photo-copying charge on documents.

NO, the information does NOT include who voted for whom...

It sure as heck better not.

But from what I can tell, what they did mention is public information - not necessary easy to get in a nice form, but public information nonetheless.

“Honestly, we don’t even care if it’s authentic. We are inside your networks.”

Fake but accurate was the Rat mantra in 2004 as well.

Democrats don’t even have to steal the vote in Floriduh this time. They can cut their campaign expenditures, let the GOP sweep Floriduh and then claim that because the Republicans won by such a large margin that it HAD to be fraudulent.

You are talking about the barking moonbat party that still believes GW Bush stole two elections.

Clear evidence is there to show that Rats stuff ballots in numerous elections yet they only say that there is fraud in the vote whenever they LOSE. With NO evidence to back up their claims.
