WASHINGTON The Obama administration took the unusual step Friday of asking the Supreme Court to stop Texas from executing a Mexican citizen convicted of raping and killing a 16-year-old girl.
The administration said the court should delay the planned July 7 execution of Humberto Leal for up to six months to give Congress time to consider legislation that would directly affect Leal's case.
The 38-year-old native of Monterrey wasn't told he could contact the Mexican Consulate after his arrest in the murder of Adria Sauceda. His lawyers say police violated an international treaty by not telling Leal he could have consular assistance.

Eso es funny as he@@!
I know exactly what you mean. Every single day! Some days we get two or three major outrages.
I think you've got that backwards. 0bama has absolutely no authority over the laws of a state and that includes the governor of any state. 0bummer can do nothing about this unless he straight out violates the Constitution.
Seems obama doesn’t follow the law though.
Let’s hope Perry can do something then.
Gee..he’s never done that before. /s
Perry doesn’t have to do anything but simply follow Texas law and allow the execution to proceed. 0baMaoMau doesn’t even rate a reply to this.
This doesn’t make sense. If an international Treaty was broken, then the SCOTUS would determine that now & act accordingly. They would issue a stay if they’re gonna hear the case, but not for 6 months so congress has time to pass legislation. That makes no sense whatsoever. IF it violated International Treaty, the administration would be comfortable w/just having SCOTUS look at the case & decide. Which means they know it didn’t violeate any treaty or else they wouldn’t be asking for 6 months to pass a law. This is screwy.
From the end of the thread article:
The Mexican government and other countries have joined the legal fight to grant Leal a reprieve.
Police discovered Sauceda’s nude body on a dirt road in San Antonio in May 1994. Evidence showed she had been raped, bitten and strangled. A large stick that had a screw protruding from it was left in her body.
Among other evidence, the bite mark was matched to Leal. Her bloody blouse was found at Leal’s home. She and Leal had been attending a party not far from where she was found.

He was 22 she was 16, There is no reason to delay this execution. None at all.Justice delayed is justice denied.
No federal law exists now to compel Texas to delay justice so the patent idiots in Congress can act to even further delay the execution. Obama needs to butt out and mind his own business. He can call for Pizza instead.( Obama calls on the state of Texas...by what authority? He thinks he is King? Show him he is not.)
I’m all for executing the sob, but what about his not being allowed to call the Mexican embassy?
Is this legal?
Sounds like Texas has him on a “path to citizenship”. Treating him just like he was an American! There’s just no pleasing the left,,,
And the mexican citizen!
ROFLOL! Yeah, and him too!
FRY that POS!
Compassion for the guilty is TREASON to the innocent (parphrasing Ayn Rand)
We'll know in a few days.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice Web site has the “Last Words” of executed inmates since 1982. Very interesting reading.
I've read that 41% of Hispanic males who voted, voted for Perry in the last election.
Excellent! I really enjoy that style of logic!
I believe I read earlier today on another thread that the case went to the Supreme Court in 2004 and the SCOTUS ruled in favor of TEXAS!
The scumbag (the rapist and killer, not Obama this time) was convicted I think in the 1990s, so he and his atty. have had plenty of time to discuss matters with the Mexican Consulate. ...Juice him up on 7 July!!
“Old Sparky” was replaced years ago with lethal injection.
I believe Texas and a couple of other States are now using the same drugs that vets use to put down family pets with no pain.
