Nature and extent of the blaze at Hilton on Park Lane is unclear
Fire broke out Friday in a Hilton hotel in London, sending plumes of smoke billowing from the 28-story building.
Photographs posted on social media sites showed people fleeing the London Hilton on Park Lane as smoke billowed high into the sky and at ground level.
Sam Cunningham, a sports reporter for the Independent newspaper, said he was working in the hotel when the fire alarm went off and the building was evacuated swiftly. Cunningham told NBC News that a police officer said he had not heard of any injuries.
It was unclear what caused the fire.
The hotel, built in 1963, has 453 rooms. It had a complete renovation in 2010. It is near Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace.

Is Paris in town?
She’s hot, but not that hot!................
Spent a couple of nights in that same hotel back in the early 70’s. I remember looking at some lake from my 3rd floor window.
Paid my bills (Company did), got in a taxi, and as we drove off an explosion went off in the lobby.

KaDaffy?
Fire sends smoke. Who knew?
IRA.
Did the explosion chip those (marble?) columns in the lobby?
Best steak, best wine and best service I ever enjoyed. The maitre d’ actually wore a key around his neck to the wine cellar. I am so glad I had brought my best suit with me.
