One of the whistleblowers who brought the massive Gun Walker scandal to light, ATF Special Agent Vince Cefalu, was terminated after a thirty-year career last week the day after House Oversight chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a warning letter to the Bureau, demanding a promise that there would be no retaliatory firings of whistleblowers.
Ironically, one of the reasons given for Cefalus termination was a lack of candor. He was previously turned into a desk ornament for daring to become a vocal critic of an illegal wiretap. Since he spoke up about Gun Walker, he spent most of his time changing batteries or filling cars with gas. He has described Operation Fast and Furious, designed to flood Mexico with American guns, as a violation of the law, maintaining there was no intent to follow the guns this never had a chance of succeeding.
It doesnt sound like Cefalu suffers from a lack of candor. Perhaps hes recalcitrant by the boisterous standards of the ATF, where things are rowdy due to all the alcohol and tobacco.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post so helpful to the Administration at key moments in the Gun Walker saga ran an astonishing editorial this week, in which they tried to finger the gun-rights lobby as the true culprit behind this rogue ATF operation. The Post mourned the reductions in the ATFs meager budget and restricted ability to share information with other law enforcement agencies brought about by the NRA and certain lawmakers, who are concerned to the point of paranoia about the erosion of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
You know what is demonstrably not paranoia? The fear that youll be walking down a street in Mexico and get blown away by a gun supplied by the Bureau of Alcohol,...

“How bout dem apples?”
LOL! My mom always used to say that.
Issa is doing a good job on this.
The MSM is in total fail mode, but what can we expect?
I don’t care what their motives were, and I really don’t like Mexico one little bit, but it was pretty damn nervy of our gov’t to break our laws and ship contraband into our southern neighbor’s sovereign territory.
Hey, it could have been a "kinetic action" . . .Not that there have been no reports of Mexican authorities intruding into Texas.
I found a blog post and nothing more. I also heard this on Fox News with Brett Baier.
I also heard that Mexico will not turn over gun trace data to Issa or Grassley that would assist the investigation.
I personally believe Mexico was complicit in Fast & Furious. Calderon was also spouting the 90% lie at the same time the Obama Admin was spouting it.
This was a coordinated attack by leftists in DC, Mexico and our media. They are getting desperate given the Heller and McDonald decisions.
“I personally believe Mexico was complicit in Fast & Furious. Calderon was also spouting the 90% lie at the same time the Obama Admin was spouting it. This was a coordinated attack by leftists in DC, Mexico and our media.”
Yep. It’s looking like obuma conspired with another government to strip away our rights. That is treason.
Hey, hey! Hey now! What is this -- you telling us you unbellyfeel MiniTrue's doubleplusgood duckspeakers? How doubleungood. You keep this up, you're headed for the Memory Hole like OldThinker Cefalu.
You gotta doublethink your way back to plusgood NewThink, citizen.
It was repeated in, of all things, the little ad-supported "free" weekly that appears on my lawn every Wednesday (I call it The Weekly Lawn Litter). The former editor of the Houston Post (sold out in 1994 by sellout publisher Dean Singleton -- selling out second papers is his business model) repeated the 90% lie with a straight face in a long, diatribal lampoon of Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, whom he represented in a faux-first person tirade as a bunch of mouth-breathing sloped foreheads and Kluxer-wannabe's.
The media are busy covering for Obama by using this scandal to promote gun control...

Not if the 'Rats counter with their own tag-team like they did to Fred Thompson in the Chinagate hearings, when the 'Rats used Richard BenVeniste to filibuster as a committee staffer supporting 'Rat senators, who voted in lockstep to keep certain witnesses away from the committee.
Issa needs to just call in whoever he wants -- screw the "cooperation" b.s., you know it's always a con and a screw job -- and start jugging people for contempt who don't come clean. Hell, lock 'em up in the basement of the Capitol if need be, to keep them away from Executive Department drones that Obozo's stooges can order around.
Really? Just watch. Media wil absolutely refuse to cover it, and it will go no where until, and when, the Senate changes hands and a real investigation can be done.

“Not that there have been no reports of Mexican authorities intruding into Texas.”
Yes, that is also disturbing.
However, Gunwalker armed the criminals of Mexico. While the Mexican authorities who have entered the US have not been acting against our gov’t (at least presumably and on the surface) (and not that it’s OK because it’s not) the actions of our gov’t in Gunwalker were directly against the interests of the legal Mexican authorities.
I’d like to know if we even informed Mexico about what we were doing. But I doubt we did, because I’m pretty sure someone would have said it by now and also because I don’t think this operation had anything to do with stopping crime in Mexico or in the US.
Like those “real” investigations the Republican congress did of the Clinton crimes?
Please wake up now.
Paranoia is an irrational fear.
By definition, the concerns that the Governmental entities which have repeatedly advocated the erosion or elimination of our Right to Keep and bear arms acting on those threats is NOT paranoia.
They made threats to the Right, and continue to work against it.
Recognizing that is far from irrational.
You are not paranoid if there really is someone out to get you.
bump
I have little doubt this ties in with the UN Small Arms treaty they are slobbering over.
If they can push that through, whatever the law is in the US will become the standard by which our RKBA is defined, even if the treaty is ruled unconstitutional for interfering with a fundamental Right.
IMHO, the lot of them should be up on charges for conspiracy to rob Americans of a Fundamental Right, a Felony in itself.
That’s another slap in our faces by the Dick-tater in chief.
Why? Is Darrel going to get really, really mad again?
We have an imperial presidency, and nothing is being done to impede it. Who will stop them? I doubt the minor players really want to risk their seat at the won’s table after all it is a pretty comfortable place.
