A subsidiary of Garda World Security Corp. will not only bring 100 jobs to Boca Raton, but move its U.S. headquarters there, too, Gov. Rick Scott announced Wednesday.
The Business Journal previously reported that the Montreal-based company had applied for $1 million in state and local incentives for its Garda Cash Logistics to create 100 jobs in Boca Raton by 2013. Scott said the average pay for those jobs would be $65,000.
The 45,000-employee Garda World Security (TOR: GW) is a global provider of security solutions, cash logistics and global risk consulting.
Scott's announcement hit on one of his major economic development themes by noting that Florida has a lower corporate income tax rate than California, where Garda Cash Logistics is currently based, and two other states it was considering. The Business Journal earlier reported that Garda was considering putting the office in Broadview, Ill., and Wilmington, Del.
Scott announced the move on the third day of a trade mission to Canada.
"Many companies here in Canada have expressed their desire to do business with Florida because of our excellent business climate and commitment to cut taxes and grow jobs proof that we are capturing the attention of the business community worldwide, he said in the announcement.

One day, only the illegals will be paying the taxes in California.
“One day, only the illegals will be paying the taxes in California.”
Guess that means no taxes will be paid, eh?
That’s the nice part about being illegal.
Pain is the one thing that human beings respond to. When good sense and reason has failed the best thing one can do is stand back and watch the show while those who made their bed enjoy the benefits of it.
going to FL from CA is a tax issue no-brainer, but locating in boca is most likely because the owner/ceo doesn’t want to drive far to work, esp. if they locate in west boca.
Yep....that means that all the California politicians will be sweeping the floors in their own offices. It also means that all the teachers will be working for free. There ain’t no money.
I wish my company would move its R&D from the West Coast but they never will because of key personel who would never leave.
Makes more room in Kalifornia for Section 8 “Living Large” households.

This is not a Kalifornia story, but you get the idea.
The NEW ballad of Jed Clampett
Come and listen to a story ‘bout a man named Jed
Poor oil entrepreneur barely kept his family fed
Then one day he was working for some food,
And up through the town come a bumbling clown
(Brown that is, take a toke, what a joke)
Well the first thing you know old Jed’s taxes are to much to bear,
Kin folk said Jed move away from there!
Said California is no place for you to be
So they loaded up the truck and they moved from Beverly
(gon back to the Hills they are, fishn holes, country and western stars)
Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin
They would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in
You’re all invited back again to their new locality
To have a heaping helping of their hospitality
(Redneck Hillbillies, is what the press call ‘em now,
Clingers of bibles and guns and to Obama no bow!
Nice folks Y’all come back now, ya hear?)
It looks like the liberal newspapers are giving the credit to Charlie Crist.
Hell holes 0
Chicago, Wilmington, hell holes....... thumbs down.
No one wants to move there
I saw the light in 89 moved to Texas and then onto Florida where I intend to reside till I expire. Do I miss Ca? Well, I miss the wine country and the weather. On the other hand I don’t miss the taxes, kowtowing to every immigrant group, declining infrastructure, cost of living, crazy dems and their minions and the traffic. Was it the correct move for me? Not even a close call.
I was born in California many years ago and what you describe as happening to this State is absolutely accurate. I wish I could leave but probably will not due to age. Lord this State was beautiful. Liberalism Kills!
Other than sales tax illegals do not pay taxes in California. They work under the table.
Likewiae. Do live in a red county, but that doesn't help much. Would like to paraphrase the Late Gov. Reagan: I didn't leave California, California left me!"
BTW: Rumor is that at a seance, Reagan appeared and said he wanted his grave moved to Texas.....
