Rick Perry, Republicans' lone star (misleading title: article pushed Huntsman)
The Guardian (UK) ^ | June 30, 2011 | Stewart J Lawrence

Posted on 06/30/2011 6:31:43 AM PDT by Clairity

And they don't want to have a debate unless Perry - who's got the best job creation record of any sitting governor - is there to steal the show.

...he doesn't want another GOP "dark horse", former Obama China envoy Jon Huntsman, a skilled debater who recently announced his own candidacy, to get a jump on Perry, pulling the party left, rather than right, where so many want it to go.

Huntsman, of course, is already something of a party gadfly for having served in the Obama administration, and for having endorsed its "stimulus" package - in fact, he's even argued, much like the Democratic left, that the package should have been bigger. He's also striking a broader bipartisan note on policy by suggesting that compromise with Democrats on thorny issues like immigration and cap-and-trade may also be needed - in part, to rescue Republicans from their well-deserved reputation as the "party of no".

Huntsman not only wants the troops in Afghanistan and Libya brought home, and soon - in fact, much sooner than Obama - he even thinks the "soft-power" tools of trade and diplomacy should supplant military interventionism.

Huntsman is a Dem plant. I hope no Republican will vote for him in the primary.

LOL. Classic. They want to push Huntsman on us but in order for us to read anything about him they have to put Perry’s name in the headline.

What is Perry’s position on on borders,
on illegal aliens, on RomneyCARE
and Gardasil, today?

Just thinking yesterday: why is it that, in choosing our nominee, we’re all looking for who wins debates? Presidents don’t need to be good debaters, they need to be good leaders, managers and converters of information into action that ensures the security of the nation.

How about I tell you instead?!

Perry came out against AZ1070.

Which means all of the largely symbolic actions/words he has done/spoke on the issue of Illegal Immigration don't mean squat.

You add in the blatant open-borders crap he spouted to Mexican Officials when he was visiting in Mexico, and what you have is an Open Borders Fraud.

Sounds like Kalifornia “open borders”.

All we hear from the anti-Perry screamers is half truths, same here. Obviously half fact is all you guys have or care about.

Don’t pull the liberal trick of taking something out of context to embellish your position to just tear down, whether its Perry or anything else conservative. If you want to state the FACTS and promote your ideas or candidate, you are very welcome to do so.

If The Guardian's writers had seen Perry debate in the Republican primaries last year, they wouldn't be talking about him stealing the show.

Don’t pull the liberal trick of taking something out of context to embellish your position to just tear down, whether its Perry or anything else conservative.

Look, less than 5 years ago, Perry was supporting a guest worker program and six years ago he was singing the praises of LULAC and considers them to be "men and women who are committed to building a future of unlimited opportunity for every Texan."

The sanctuary city and pat-down bills were supposed to be very important to Perry, but he's in California speaking to Boy Scouts rather than back in Austin calling for another special sessions. It's clear where his priorities are - he's out shaking hands in California rather than back in Austin trying to get the legislature to pass that legislation.

I could go on and on, but the point is, the man changes his views based on whichever crowd he is in front of or whatever his donors want. There is a reason why he supported open borders and guest workers and LULAC - his biggest donor is a home builder, a home builder who was lobbying the Texas legislature last week to not pass the sanctuary city bill. Remember when he was in front of a Tea Party group and mentioned secession? Well he turned around and said "Of course, I have never advocated for secession and never will." and that is par for the course when it comes to Rick Perry - he suckered those Tea Party folks into believing in him.

There is a reason why "Slick Rick" is among his nicknames. The man is sharp and he knows how to sucker people into believing in him and how to reinvent himself, all the while keeping his donors/investors happy.

Got a feeling I've been around here longer and have never heard someone call Perry “Slick Rick”. Give us a break. Out of facts resort to inventing names? How childlike.

Find something else to hate.

In answer, never read or saw any article or report where Perry was SINGING the praises of LULAC, your exaggeration.

Regarding Guest Worker Programs, so who do you think is going to do the laborious jobs our lazy citizens won't do? Uneducated whites, blacks or Gen X? Hell the whitetrash learned they can get on the freeby gov handout wagon same as blacks and the kids are still hanging out at home sleeping til 10. Mexicans are the only ones that'll actually work. The right Guest Worker Program would make sure the immigrants won't have access to welfare or free healthcare and the criminals are jailed or deported. Can you show factual evidence of what Perry meant when talking about Guest Worker Program? No of course not, just make up another name when you don't have fact on your side.

Yes, I'm exaggerating, I hacked into the Governor's website. Just ignore the following:

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10134/

Thank you, Roger (Rocha), for those kind words and for your leadership of a distinguished organization that is continuing to have a profound impact all across this state...
...the League of United Latino American Citizens.

I am always honored to be with men and women who are committed to building a future of unlimited opportunity for every Texan...
...where jobs are abundant...
...where families and communities are strong...
...and where every individual...
...regardless of the neighborhood they come from, or the sound of their last name...
...is empowered to control their own destiny.

Texas has come a long way in the march towards greater opportunity and empowerment in the 76 years since LULAC was founded.

Yes, all of that is made up, Perry didn't call them a "distinguished organization" made up of " men and women who are committed to building a future of unlimited opportunity for every Texan"

Can you show factual evidence of what Perry meant when talking about Guest Worker Program? No of course not, just make up another name when you don't have fact on your side.

I also hacked into the governor's website: and placed a speech there where he would reward those who are illegally here with the ability to continue working here, even though they broke our laws to get here:

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/editorial/10326/

But to me neither amnesty nor mass deportation is the answer. The first unfairly rewards those who broke our laws, and the latter is not only unrealistic and unenforceable, but it would devastate our economy. That’s why I support a guest worker program that takes undocumented workers off the black market and legitimizes their economic contributions without providing them citizenship status.

“Huntsman is a Dem plant.”
Romney has the cash, and nobody will vote for him.
Palin meets the purity test, but still associated with Loser McLame.
Please help Texas. Nominate Perry, and tie him to a Mormon (Huntsman).
Everybody wins! No one votes for Romney, we get 4 more years of Zero, and Palin sells more books video and airtime.
