George Anthony gave some of the most damning testimony in the murder trial of his daughter today, saying that Casey Anthony was the last one to see Caylee alive.
George Anthony also denied the prosecutor's claim that he had sexually abused Casey Anthony when she was a girl.
Casey Anthony is accused of murdering her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee, and could face the death penalty if convicted. Her defense team argues that the toddler accidentally drowned in the family pool and that George Anthony helped dispose of the body. They also claim that he sexually abused Casey Anthony and that she hid her daughter's death in the same manner that she hid the molestation.
In a testy exchange between George Anthony and his daughter's lawyer, Jose Baez, the lawyer asked him, "You know that sex with a child under the age of 12 is a life sentence, sir? ... You of course would never admit you molested your daughter, would you, sir?"
"Sir, I never would do anything like that to my daughter. I would never do anything to harm my daughter in that way," George Anthony shot back.
Baez snapped rhetorically, "Only in that way?"
Casey Anthony's Case Hurt By Her Father's Testimony?
George Anthony's testimony may have hurt his daughter's defense as Baez argued that George Anthony attempted to shift the focus of law enforcement to his daughter and that his experience as a former police officer helped him do it.
"Definitely something happened to Caylee, she's no longer with us and Casey was the last one I'd seen with her…one and one adds up to two no matter how you try to spin it," George Anthony said.

Defense made a sad mistake accusing the grandad of molestation and cover up, sounds like the next mistake was putting him back on the stand.
The judge let the state cross on the suicide note and contents because Baez made the HUGE mistake alluding to on direct to start with- Baez is way too inexperienced for this defense and the prosecution is having a field day.
The state can now shoe the state of mind when George attempted suicide was NOT that of a father guilty over incest, or helping cover up his granddaughter’s accidental death- but slowly and finally realizing that his own daughter had killed Caylee.

More correctly - He didn’t want to believe.
What father is prepared to accept the fact that his daughter murdered her baby, his granddaughter, in cold blood?
It’s perfectly understandable that he went through a stage of denial. He had to go through a process of acceptance to consciously admit what his subconscious knew to be the truth.
Now the murderess and her defense team are throwing Mom, Dad, everyone, under the bus in their attempt to create enough doubt to save her from the death penalty.

I am watching this and shaking my head and asking “just wth is the Defense thinking?” Their witness and their implied arguments are KILLING themselves.
If this was wrestling, it would be a reverse-suplex!
As I said — the strangest direct on a Defense case Ihave ever seen. Better to leave her Dad and all the implications his testimony brings off the stand completely.

Baez is so out of his league. He screwed the pooch so badly with his defense that it will take Casey on the stand to pull his case out of the dumpster. He took a defendant that might have avoided Ole Sparky but with his silly “molest/drowned” defense he took away any sympathy for a very unsympathetic defendant. Oh well, Casey will have a good appeal based on ineffective counsel.
Baez keeps coming back to the Gas can. I wonder WTF? Over and over and George is so defensive and worried about the Gas Can. Why? What is going on with the Gas Can?
Was a litigator for almost 30 years. You can’t ask what he thinks now as it goes to the substantive issue in the case that is in the purview of the jury. You can only ask what he thought then if it is relevant as to actions taken.

He wants to pin him on something about the Gas Can. Also he nailed George today on why he did not Call 911 and report the 100% certainty of a Dead Body being in the car when he picked it up at impound. George is an ex-cop and should have known to treat the car as a crime scene. George told the impound Mgr. the car had been at Amscott three days before being towed. George had no way to know that unless he put it there. George was claiming Casey had been out of touch and missing for a week with the car??? The impound Mgr. Also said he smelled a dead body and then George claimed he did not tell the man about the car at Amscott 3 days. Something is fishy with George.

I don’t think Jose Joan Baez is being invited to any July 4 barbecues that George may be hosting....
M62. That is exactly what I thought before the trial. But I thought it was an unintentional killing. Now I wonder. All kinds of strange things going on in the trial. What next!
this is a ploy for a later appeal on the grounds that the defense was inadequate. Make no mistake, Baez is throwing spagetti but he has a back up plan
