Palin Dazzles Pella (Read this classic quote!)
The Atlantic ^ | Thursday June 28, 2011 | Joshua Green

...Even so, crowd members kept approaching her and urging her to run, and after seeing the film, those feelings seemed only to intensify. There can be little doubt that if she does decide to run, Palin won't lack for committed Iowans. Several that I spoke to were skipping the barbecue to attend Tea Party caucus training sessions.

One of them, Craig Bergman, a burly, cowboy-hatted gentleman from Des Moines, was plainly inspired by what he saw. He sought out Palin's aide, Rebecca Mansour, and, grinning widely, exclaimed, "Now all she has to do is run!" I asked if he thought she would. "Look, there has never been a weaker field," he told me. "If she doesn't run, we're going to nominate one of the three stooges--Romney, Pawlenty, or Perry--and they're going to lose to Obama. That will ruin the party." The people around us nodded in agreement. I departed thinking that if Palin gets in, she'll have many energetic supporters--and that if she doesn't, she'll draw one heck of a backlash.

Like we didn’t know this already. Ain’t it a kick in the head?

You know, I’d never considered that there would be a backlash if she didn’t run, but I think there might be. The rational side of me doesn’t begrudge her the choice to run or not, in 2012, 2016 or whenever, but the emotional side of me will feel betrayed. And at this time, I don’t know which side is stronger.

"If she doesn't run, we're going to nominate one of the three stooges--Romney, Pawlenty, or Perry-..."

Now that there is funny. I don't care who ya are.

Well, the statement is funny. The reality of it not so much.

Earlier on, I don’t think thre would have been a backlash. But now, I think it would be huge. So many people have such high hopes and everything she has done has fed into that. I think it would be seen as a betrayal of the entire country...and I am not exaggerating.

Sarah is the only one that has a dedicated base that will give an arm and a leg and their lunch money for her (even the Ron Paulbots don’t even seem to do that to that existent) plus no one would like to see the PDsers around here or the MSM and Republican Establishment gloat about Sarah walking away, it would be an humiliating feeling

I think there would be since so many of us are emotionally invested in wanting so badly for her to run. But we’d all get over it quickly and realize that we projected our desires on her. The choice is hers/her family alone.

That said, Anyone doing what she is doing is running. She will not announce until she absolutely has to in order to string the media along and LEGALLY AVOID all the election laws and press coverage that would hamper an “announced’ candidate.

Smart, smart move. ;)

If she runs, she will win—if she doesn’t we will still win only I want the winner to be a conservative like Sarah or the American death spiral only slows.

It would be disappointment first then humiliation then it would turn to anger.

Sarah is definitely running, she isn’t jerking people around, its just a certain timing thing of when for her as we speak, but she has definitely gone pass that “line of no return” with many people anticipating her running, if she did walk away minus personal family issue, there will be a lot of anger everywhere

Truly, I wonder if that’s what I want more, that the mediots be disciplined good and proper once and for all. They have abdicated their responsibility and need to be held to account for it, and the same came be said of the Republican Establishment. They have much of which to be ashamed if they permit themselves to be lumped in with the lame stream media.

You know, I’d never considered that there would be a backlash if she didn’t run, but I think there might be.

Sarah has far too much personal integrity to allow millions upon millions of broken glass supporters to wait for months in anticipation, just to say that she's decided not to run.

She's one of the sharpest knives in the drawer, and no doubt saw this question coming a long time ago. I think that Sarah had her personal wrestling match over this around the time she first resigned the governorship.

She knew then, that if she weren't fully committed to running, that her love of country and her fellow Americans would compel her to say so early. To do otherwise would be out of character for her, and an unprecedented breach of the trust she's established with all of us.

She didn't make that announcement when the question was first posed, and that can only mean one thing.... She's in it.

I read her book, i’ve known about her life story, i got enough reviews from the movie to know what’s in it — I just can’t see Sarah and her highly competitive nature to just exit the room with the MSM/Establishment/Liberals gloating and laughing how they took down Palin.

She told those people in the Theater tonight that “We are going down fighting” and that basically the people who moved to Iowa to delicate themselves to organizing for her is not done in vain. She IS going to fight - fight like a girl, in time!

I read Going Rogue twice. The second time, I went through it with highlighters - yellow for character traits/leadership skills, orange for her accomplishments and blue for where I perceived that she was committed/dedicated/making a promise to us. There was some blue in my signed copy. Since then, I’ve seen more and more signs. I’ve also questioned myself - Do I want this so much that I’m seeing things that aren’t there?

My hope is that she doesn’t announce till November. Let the media evacuate their misogynistic bowels on Bachmann so that their anti-woman bias shows when they gun for Palin. But to me, the icing on the cake would be if Charles Palin-should-leave-the-room Krauthammer gets caught in a fecal storm that leaves him speechless for months. And I say this as someone who has appreciated his insights and his rhetoric for years. Brit Hume has also not done himself any favors in his comportment vis-a-vis Palin. I am disappointed in him. Karl Rove doesn’t merit a comment.

I think Santorum might have hit the nail squarely on the head when he said that he wouldn’t run if Palin was in it. Why? “Because she sucks the air out of the room.” I concur robustly with Mr. Santorum and wish him luck in his endeavors.

We will know 100% by October...that’s the deadline for filing to enter the Iowa Caucus, there will be no doubt then.

All true, but Sarah is too good a person to string along millions and millions of her most ardent supporter like that. She knows the devastation that would occur if she withdrew at this point, and she will not fail us like that. It would be akin to living a lie, and that's just not our Sarah.

If she even had the slightest doubt about running, she would have been straight up with the American people long before the race heated up.

You know it and I know it. She's running. Game On!

FTABut the liberals I spoke to afterward weren't yet persuaded. "I wasn't blown away," said Pat Schacherer,
Even if the libs in attendance weren't initially impressed maybe, just maybe, some seeds have been planted. I have a Black freind who still supports 0. I made it clear to him that I don't give a rat's a** what color he is, I despise his positions and where he's leading the country. I took elRushbo's advice and reminded him of how 0 latched on to socialism which besides being responsible for more deaths than hitler, is a failed ideology concocted by a bunch of dead WHITE guys. We agreed to disagree, but we still get along. Hopefully he'll come to his senses.

Reagan announced in Nov. both in 1975 and in 1979. How did he get by the October deadline? Did he enter the Iowa caucuses?
