"including ending subsidies to oil and gas companies, an idea that failed in the Senate"

O.K., so when and if those subsidies are ended, oil companies will simply pass on the lack of subsidy revenue to gas customers - therefore, we all will pay at the pump as well as continue to pay the same amount to the government as they are bound to find another way to spend the 'savings'.

If MY congressman, Tom Graves, votes for this budget deal, he is dead to me, vote-wise. Both of my RINO Senators are off my Christmas vote list. I suffer RINOs no more.

I simply cannot see the House G.O.P. passing any kind of tax hikes.

If the R’s raise taxes, when everyone in this country knows the problem is bloated government, they will not only lose all their elections, they will quickly cease to be a party.

if the rinos surrender to obama then a “significant” deal is POSSIBLE.

If they cave then only outsiders for office in 2012
primary them all.

The Democrats know how to negotiate. Wholesale tax increases will never pass the House. Has that stopped the Dems from using them as a starting point? No! Where will the GOP start their negotiations at? Probably just like the 2011 budget. Ask for a little, and then settle for next to nothing.

The GOP’s initial position should be 1) immediate repeal of Obamacare. Or 2) a balanced 2012 budget. Or 3) immediate defunding of EPA. Or 4) any combination of the 3. Instead they will probably ask for some spending cuts in the year 2525, and accept some kind of new taxes, which will be called “closing loopholes”, or “fees”, or some other such garbage. There really is only one party. I’m waiting for the GOP to prove me wrong, but they haven’t yet.

What government programs will be eliminated or consolidated?

What government agency will see a reduction in total expenditure, not a reduction in the growth rate but a
actual cut in the amount spent? Color me suspicious but I don’ think any of this will happen.

Two things must happen. No new taxes at all!!! The debt limit increase must be voted down. Result: Geithner resigns the next day for the buffoon he is. And.....Obama becomes a lame duck POTUS!!!! if Boehner and McConnell yield on any of these two, The Republican Party is history!!! Republicans, using an FDR term, “The only thing you have to fear is fear itself”. This the is time for a profile in courage and the iron willed determination to stop the economic destruction of these United States of America!!!

If the GOP agrees to any of this, they all better start looking for jobs really soon.

How about ending ethanol and farm subsidies. We could save $150 billion a year if the Dept of Agriculture was shut down.

“”It’s the only way to get it done,” Carney said. The White House has proposed raising about $600 billion in new tax revenue, including ending subsidies to oil and gas companies, an idea that failed in the Senate.”

IDIOTS!

How about ending subsidies to ‘green’ energy which does absolutely nothing to help the economy or produce energy for consumption.

The bigger issue - this is his first foray into the budget talks? Where the —— has he been? The biggest issue facing the country, killing job creation and this is his first foray!

Ridiculous BS!!!

Higher taxes are inevitable. We’ve reached the point of no return on that one sadly. BUT, no new taxes until they make massive cuts in spending.

But both sides only seemed to harden their positions as the day wore on, the administration insisting on higher taxes as part of the package but Republican leaders flatly rejecting the idea.

Typical enemedia....with the misleading headline...

I have faith that the gop will stick to their no tax pledge and refuse to raise taxes by $400-$600 billion as the dems propose.

No, the gop will dig in their heels at about a trillion in new taxes. And not one penny less. And it’ll be the fault of the wascally dems who “forced” them to go along.

Well it has become obvious the negotiation strategy for the Bamster, make a deal with the Senate appearing reasonable and businesslike. Then isolate the House Repubs and back them into a corner. Make a “default” the responsibility of the House and “Tea Party” Repubs.

When the default day draws near expect the stock market to “crash” by a bunch and all the talking heads to vilify the Repubs intransigence.

This had been the plan for 6 months, Bam is going to try and win the election in the next 60 days. If they cave, the Repub base is lost, if they balk then the Repubs are causing the recovery to fade. It is all so predictable, do you trust the Repubs to stand their ground?
