The wrong John Wayne (Rollins appears to be Bachman's Idiot)
washington times ^ | 6/27 | Dinan

Posted on 06/27/2011 11:54:18 AM PDT by RummyChick

Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo's own John Wayne.

The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo's John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.

Mrs. Bachmann grew up in Waterloo, and used the town as the backdrop for her campaign announcement, where she told Fox News: "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."

(Someone has already posted the clip to YouTube under the name BachmannLovesGacy) John Wayne, the movie legend, is in fact from Iowa and the John Wayne birthplace is a celebrated landmark — only it's in Winterset, which is a nearly three hour drive away from Waterloo. Gacy, though, had his first taste of the criminal life in Waterloo, where he lived for a short time, and where he had his first criminal conviction for an attempted homosexual assault, which landed him in prison for 18 months. He would move back to Illinois, where his killing spree started, and lasted about six years. In 1980 he was convicted on 33 counts of murder, and was executed in 1994.

who would have ever conceived of naming a guy Marion?

I'll see you and raise you one.

Warning: adult topics in a bawdy comical fashion.

Cheers!

A small rural town in middle of nowhere America with a few thousand people produces one of the biggest and most famous actors on the planet, in history no less, and you don’t think every man woman child and fetus in that town would know that?

Are you even remotely serious?

She was still flustered from the Chris Wallace interview, especially when he nailed her on benefitting from earmarks. And he was very specific about the family farm and her husband’s counseling clinic.

But, really people, how can anyone seriously consider this woman as president...???

I can't imagine a scenario where I would vote for her.

I'm with you on Bachmann's bone fides, but I'm sure the scenario Bachmann vs Obama might get you to vote for her.

My sister must be a Cuban, then, as my parents honeymooned there in the 50s. They likely had, uh, relations while there.

"Close, but no cigar?" /fractured unsuccessful pun>

Cheers!

It that’s all it takes to tweak her then we definitely don’t want someone that easily distracted running the country. We have that already.

>>> shortly after she tersely refused to accept Mr. Wallace’s apology

Where did you hear the last part? I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere.

She should have graciously accepted the apology.

She is being ill-advised.

John Wanye Gacy was great in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

And you have to pay very close attention during to movie to notice all the dead boys under his house.

We need to photoshop that:

put in labels for the people going (left to right) "Bachmann" "Rollins" "FReep"

First panel substitute "PRIMARY" for "MARKET"

Second panel substitute "BACKGROUND" for "MARKET" and "FOCUS GROUP" for "TECHNICAL:".

Cheers!

My grandpa was born Marion about the same time frame and one county over in Warren County, IA. Must have been fairly common, although he went by his middle name throughout his life.

Just being fair. Gaffes are just that, They all make them and nobody gets a sweet pass unless they all do.

Why with one person we are supposed to look the other way and with another, well, that person never gets a break.

This could be her “I can see Russia from my house” moment.

___________________________________________________________

You’re comparing her to Tina Fey??

More like Roseanne Roseannadanna.

...or Mr. Bill, with Chris Wallace as Sluggo.

cheers!

He’s never won even a primary, let alone an elected office, he is not prepared well ( didn’t have the foggiest idea what “RIGHT OF RETURN “ meant ), and is for the “fair tax”, for starters.
