Rep. Michele Bachmann, stressing her Iowa roots and appealing directly to Tea Party voters, came out swinging Monday as she formally launched her campaign for president.
Buoyed by a strong showing in several recent polls, the Minnesota congresswoman cast her campaign as the voice for "constitutional conservatives" looking for a government that lives within its means while giving the private sector the room to grow. She launched a broadside against President Obama for racking up too much debt while stimulating too little job growth and vowed to make him a "one-term president."
"We cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama," she declared, later adding: "We can win in 2012 and we will win."
In her announcement, Bachmann described a special bond with Iowa, the nation's leadoff caucus state. She held the kickoff in her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, and called herself a "descendent of generations of Iowans," saying the state is where she learned "everything I needed to know." She also appealed to another vital primary constituency, calling herself part of the Tea Party movement and defending it as a cross-section of Republicans, independents and disaffected Democrats.

Hitting the nail on he head there.. I cannot for the life of me understand liberal double standards... It is true what Dr Savage says. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Sarah Palin attracts a larger *gathering* shopping at Target...lol.
Her speech was pitiful. I’ve heard better campaign speeches for student council
Wonder how that crowd will compare with the one in Pella, IA tomorrow?
As to Perry, Bachman and Palin splitting the conservative vote, why not add Cain into the equation? I do believe that Palin would get about 60% and the other three divide the rest of the conservative vote.
If that would allow Romney to slither into the nomination, hello third party Palin draft (which she would likely refuse) and possibly a second term and the last elected POTIS.
better speaker? She can’t even get her voice above monotone when speaking to a crowd of a couple hundred.
Didn’t quit halfway through? Tell us that after she is scrutinized and attacked at the point of putting her family in bankruptcy and costing the taxpayers MORE MONEY.... so, by quitting, Palin SAVED the taxpayers of AK money. Bachmann is COSTING taxpayers for her to run around campaigning. I know it’s done by everyone, but she obviously isnt doing what she was elected to do...... and that’s your beef w/ Palin. So what gives?
She can handle the media? How do you know that? And you are insinuating that Palin CAN’T? What planet are you living on?? She’s been smacking the media around for months. Right now, MB is the media darling. 99% of people don’t even know her husband’s name, much less the name of any of her kids. When we know all of her kids names by heart how many freckles they hav, the worst mistakes they ever made, and have read every email ever sent by Michele....and she’s still standing, THEN you might can say she can handle the media, but even at that it will be a stretch to say she does it better than Palin.
You can say that again. I can’t believe I just read someone in this thread say ‘depends on what camera Bachmann is looking at.’That is pure liberal spin. Bachmann was showing graphs proving Obama is a disaster.
More power to it if it produces jobs. People vote their pocketbook. Produce or perish. It’s why Obama stares at a one-term presidentcy.
The primary difference is the MSM, in that the Palin goldmine of slime never produced anything of value to them, and is totally played out.
On the other hand, the MSM is certain that MB is a whole new dig. Look for much of the same trashing of her, whether or not there is anything there. The question becomes: can she stand the heat, and if so recover in time to get the nomination? The same goes for any conservative candidate other than SP.
I was asking about the political differences between Sarah and Michelle. I don’t see much difference so far so I am not sure one would be better than the other.
I thought her answer to Chris Wallace about the 10th amendment was confusing. On one hand she supports a state's right to decide on gay marriage. She's all for that. She's all for a state's right to self-govern and so forth. Something the Tea Party crowd really appreciates, and so do I.
But the next words out of her mouth were that she wants a constitutional amendment to supercede state law allowing gay marriage. But this is talking out both sides of her mouth. You want a state to decide, and you push the 10th amendment, but at the same time you want to squash the 10th amendment with federal authority.
I'm still scratchin' my bald head...
Heard that a lot of central Iowan’s upset that she did not have a rep Saturday night at their big GOP fund raiser. Can’t make too many mistakes like that.
Calm down. Whose side are you on,Obama’s?If this were switched no conservative would be on here bashing Palin like DU and the media do. You Palinista’s are using liberal talking points against a good, strong, tea party candidate.Whatever will you do if it is Perry/Bachmann or Bachmann/Palin? Or Perry/West or Perry/Cain?Perry will win the nomination because that’s how the GOP roll;like it or not.I have been told over and over Sarah was there first. Well you know what; nobody is stopping her. If you support Bachmann Sarah will forgive you because she is not running yet. Dissing on Bachmann because you adore Palin and think a good candidate is stealing Palin’s thunder is weak.If Palin has it no one will stop her and if you think Bachmann can begin to steal her thunder Palin does not have a lick of a chance nationally. Whose side are you on?
The media want a woman nominee because they think she will be easier to beat, that’s going to be a ‘be careful what you wish for’ moment.
What is it with you and jobs? The government can’t “produce” jobs even if it had the constitional power to do so. Any spending in this area is an absurd waste of money.
The media sure doesn’t want Palin.
