Via POLITICO's Jennifer Epstein, Michele Bachmann isn't accepting an apology from Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace for asking her yesterday, "Are you a flake?" Continue Reading
ABC News' Jon Karl, who's been getting face-time with Bachmann in Waterloo in advance of her formal campaign announcement, played a clip of the web video in which Wallace said, "I messed up. I'm sorry."
When Karl asked if she accepts the apology, Bachmann brushed aside the question this way: "I think that it's insulting to insinuate that a candidate for president is less than serious."

We’re not going to agree, and I don’t blame Bachman for being offended. I don’t see why she should accept a so-called apology.
What’s going on in politics against Republican women is like a gang assault. What makes it worse is that the big-wigs in the party don’t come to their defense.
What really matters is that Democrats will stick together and perpetrate countless frauds to get obama elected.
The end result will be death panels.
JIM LEHRER: Was that one you were laying for? PRESIDENT REAGAN: I never thought about it until I got that was really off the top of my head.
"I never thought about it until I got that question....that answer was really off the top of my head."
Of course he "prepared" for questions. But there is also a thing in genuine people that we seem to have lost. Reagan spent years and years on the campaign trail starting with Goldwater, and he had polished his policy positions quite well. There's a big difference in that and sitting in a corner and writing zingers to be ued at jsut the right time in a debate to win the entire election.
Reagan was genuine. He said he came up with that off the cuff. I don't think Bachman could do that.
Oh, Baby!!! This is not hardly selective scrutiny. This is in your face truth. dilbert romney, jonny-mop huntsman, gary goodsh*t johnson, and anyone else like them don’t even deserve a mention. BUT, if you are going to tell me you are a TEA Party CONSERVATIVE who believes in conservative principles, do not, I repeat, do not duck the issues when they are put squarely in front of you to give me a campaign speech that I have heard a thousand times before without so much as alluding to the question, not once, but four times...so far, okay? Don’t release your personal data which CLEARLY shows you have received income from a farm partnership, then go on TV and vehemently deny the same. Don’t steal someone else’s words and mouth them in fronr of a camera with all the sincerety of a waterlogged boot. Do not send a goon to stab the person who campaignd for you, who elicited the TEA Party support for you, and was greatly responsible for your reelection IN THE BACK.
If that is okay with you in ANY candidate, fine. Go for it. But I make my own choices. Because I can. And I prefer honesty and admire loyalty. michele? She ain’t got neither.
andy, believe it or not, I WANTED her to do well. She didn’t. That is it, pure and simple. I wss extremely disappointed, and by the time it was over, I was just angry.
I believe you. I have really liked her, too, judging from her excellent record in the House and past appearances on radio talk shows. But increasingly, I find she just doesn’t seem ready for the big time pressure of a Presidential race and perhaps needs a more fundamental grounding in conservative ideas, as opposed to attitudes.
The Reagan line was great, but it was not an impromptu moment — it was a scripted line for a known question that would come up in a debate - written by a little known consultant to Reagan named Roger Ailes. Yes, that Roger Ailes.
Your source? It's not in "An American Life." And it also contradicts Reagan's words with Lehrer.
Well from a simple tactical view it gets rid of an issue that is doing Backmann no good. Which very quickly leads us to wondering about her judgment skills.
I agree she should have been offended. Wallace was being a pig.
I dont see why she should accept a so-called apology.
Because she has publicly declared her commitment to Christ and that is what Christians are supposed to do.
If she were not claiming to be a born-again saved by grace Christian, I would not expect that she should accept Wallace's "apology". But Christians are expected to live up to a higher standard than those who deny Christ.
As long as she is going to wear her religion on her sleeve (which I have no problem with) then she is going to have to do all she can to live up the example of Christ.
“Did Wallace, or anybody on Faux, ever question anything about Obama? Anything? Im talking about serious questioning here, looking at his background and asking serious questions.”
No, no, and no. Anybody/everybody, don’t get suckered by Chris Wallace, he pretends to be fair and balanced(and does a pretty good job of it); but, look, he’s the offspring of Mike Wallace, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree(guilty by blood association). How many times has Wallace(either one)voted for a Conservative? For whom did Chris vote in the ‘08 general—dollar to a dime it wasn’t for the er, uh, uh, alleged Conservative in the race. And, I would suggest that, if in any election, a liberal were going to vote for a ‘pubbie, it would have been ‘08.
>>Because she has publicly declared her commitment to Christ and that is what Christians are supposed to do.<<
Where exactly did he apologize to her?
The Fox clip was an apology to his viewers.
Friend of mine had lunch with Ailes shortly after SC debate this year, and they chatted about great moments in debates apparently.
I trust it, but it’s beside the point and clearly I was not there to know for sure: : THE MAIN point was Reagan did say it at a debate with Mondale — and it was pretty well known the age question would come up at that debate. I doubt Bachmann had any idea the “flake” comment would come up in an interview with Wallace.
And that was the main point: who came up with the line is not the relevant point was I was making.
“Will you vote for the Republican candidate, whoever it may be?”
Ummm. Would YOU vote for jon, (obama’s a swell fella,) huntsman or gary, (that’s some good sh*t, man) johnson...who is also pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage? Hmm?
We are NOT in the hypothetical phase of this election yet and I ain’t playing that game. This might well be the most important election of any of our lifetimes. Do you seriously expect me NOT to take it seriously as it is?
He said "I was wrong".
How many MSM reporters have you seen do that?
The Fox clip was an apology to his viewers.
Maybe so, but Bachmann should have been gracious. Instead she comes off as petty.
She's getting bad advice and apparently she is taking it and running away from all the things that we thought she would represent.
She needs to fire Rollins and hire someone who understands the tea party and Bachmann's professed faith.
Agreed. She blew it.
So we can either believe that or we can believe what you understood from what your friend heard from Roger Ailes at a private lunch someday or whatever.
In the former case we can assume that there was a misunderstanding or a bit of an innocent boast or something, and in the latter, we have to believe that Ronald Reagan flat-out lied to Jim Lehrer.
No thanks.
>>Maybe so, but Bachmann should have been gracious.<<
For what? An apology that was not given? Go over and listen to the actual apology. It wasn’t TO HER. He never said anything to her.
IF she said, “Oh yes.” The MSM would have torn her a new one for saying that she was apologized to when she wasn’t. They are making this molehill into a mountain BECAUSE she didn’t pull the typical GOP niceness.
Maybe you just haven’t seen how they tear GOP women apart. No, if she wants to be Christian, call the man up and let him apologize, in private where this all belongs. He hasn’t. She has nothing to accept.
Pansy Christianity, all love, flowers and Kuybaya is from the left. Not us. We are warriors for Christ and not playing into the enemies hands is part of that.
