TSA Pats Down Cancer-Stricken 95-Year-Old Woman, Removes Adult Diaper

TSA security officers at Florida's Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport patted down a cancer-stricken, 95-year-old woman and forcibly removed her adult diaper during the search, CNN reports. Could this end up being yet another TSA PR nightmare?

Jean Weber was traveling with her ill mother on June 18 from Florida to Michigan to see relatives "in the final stages of her battle with leukemia" when the incident occurred.

Weber told CNN that while she thinks the officers may have been "procedurally correct...the procedure needs to be changed." Weber noted that her mother had had a blood transfusion the week before.

A Suspiciously "Wet and Firm" Diaper

While passing through security, TSA officials "felt something suspicious and they couldn't determine what it was," so they took Weber's mother to a private room.

A TSA agent told Weber that her mother's Depends underwear was "wet and firm and they couldn't check it thoroughly," so the mother-daughter duo left in search of a bathroom to remove the underwear. Weber did not have an extra pair of Depends with her.

Weber "burst into tears" but her mother was "very calm" even though she was forced to go through the airport without underwear. Her elderly mother was taken to the boarding gate without her as Weber was still going through security.

Did those TSA agents think the sick, 95 y/o woman was hiding a bomb inside her diaper? Stories like this are becoming more common. What I’m not reading about is searches of Muslims. Maybe a boycott of the airlines needs to be implemented. If nothing else, lawmakers do listen to campaign contributors.

This is just outrageous.
Truly their practices are targeting ‘women. the elderly, and children’. Where is the’liberal’ uproar?

It would be interesting to know who makes the decision to search such a person. There has to be a whole host of sadistic neurons lurking in that person’s mind.

This Airport has aways been a problem because of the proximity to Eglin.

I always use Pensacola instead.

There is no way I would have allowed this to happen in front of me. I would have whooped somebody’s @ss first and gone to jail for assault.

Wonder when they will begin requiring women to remove pads and tampons......they are technically the same type of products - whose main purpose is to collect “drips, runs and errors”

What I really hate is the fact that the TSA employees remain anonymous.

The purpose is two fold here... 1. to show the true terrorists, we will terrorize ourselves in the hope that it will prove to our tormentors we hate ourselves as much as they do; 2. to desensitize the general public of fascism, for when it becomes is a way of life.

Why and the heck don’t they train these TSA Aholes to look for a trigger mechanism rather than check for a diaper full of C4. The Airlines are the ones who should crack down on these idiots because folks are going to say I’ll drive instead.

That's what I was thinking, in cases like this we need some courageous citizen journalists or reporters like Andrew Breitbart, that will publish the names, addresses and photographs of the TSA agents involved. I can guarantee, if they think people are going to be protesting on their front lawns and calling them at home, they are going to be MUCH more careful about who they harrass.

And Bin Laden laughs from his special corner in hell...I’m sure a ninety five year old mid western woman has an underpants bomb! The TSA lacks common sense just like their boss Napolitano and her boss Obama...

Are we going to stand for this people? Why aren’t we rioting in the streets???? WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO? WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS ABUSE ANYMORE.

Nasty internet people say “Oh, well, why don’t you go DO something whiner?” I even sent some thoughts locally to the guy who was running for mayor of my village unopposed. He sent me an e-mail back saying if I don’t like things in the Village why don’t I DO something about it?! He’s mayor now. I PAY HIS SALARY. I PAY MY TAXES. THAT’S WHAT I’M DOING. AND I VOTE. IT DOESN’T WORK! I spend all my time working a full time job and caring for my elderly parents in my home with me. I get no public assitance though they are trying to force us into it. If this happened to my mother, hell if it happnened to my dog, I’d be ready fight.

Want me to go stand on some corner with a sign? Think I can find other people to stand with me? Who would cover it? What news media? Who would join me? When would I go? During work hours and lose my job and not be able to care for my parents? We are forced into accepting these things? God, how come people haven’t taken to the streets. Our children, our elderly sick parents being molested by the TSA. A communist in the White House! You know what we need to do.

why isn’t the social media being used to plan protests over these things? Or wouldn’t anyone show up?

Where is it? No clue but you’d think they’d be rioting in the streets given the TSA was the product of Bush and a democrat Congress. The left never seems to waste an opportunity to protest everything Bush.

TSA protests? Bring this story to light? I will take off work. I will be there. We can’t sit idly by any more. WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION.

To quote Secretary Napolitano, “the system worked.” This 95 year-old woman did not blow up an airliner and every other 95 year-old Midwestern woman will now think twice before bringing a bomb on a plane. TSA is not unique. TSA is government. Government is power; power more often than not in the hands of people who are inept.
