She [Bachmann] also backed away from the “Is Obama unAmerican?” question. She became McCainish and wouldn’t question his patriotism when she could have hit it out of the park.

I'm assuming you are referring to a debate question? Rush played a clip of Reagan when he announced his candidacy for president in front of the Statue of Liberty. Reagan's criticism was harsh and to the point, with respect to Carter's record. Rush was pointing out the difference from Huntsman (I want to stay above the fray) when he announced.

The media today is much more powerful than in Reagan's day in shaping/swaying elections. A Repub. who blasts obama will face unending scrutiny and political ads using their words over and over. The media will do their best to protect obama by destroying any contender.

Relistening to Reagan's words was refreshing compared to the rhetoric of today. I think it can still be done. There is plenty to criticize with obama's record. As you pointed out, bray, is it patriotic to stop drilling? Is it patriotic to want coal companies regulated to the point that electric prices will necessarily skyrocket? Will elderly people on fixed incomes be forced to live in a sweltering or freezing house to offset their necessarily skyrocketing electric bills? That's unAmerican, IMO.

In short, almost all of what Wallace asked about was irrelevant.

Good point, and interesting analysis of both Wallace's and Scheiffer's interview.

Thanks for all the bday wishes. Been a good one. Husband bought me a golf umbrella. I spend an hour and a half each morning but Sunday exercising in my yard. Even in the rain, yes, me and dog, walk, run, play ball, give the heart a workout. So I need a big umbrella and oncit I had one.

But it was not so well built and the metal flange thingies get popping open so that as I walked it kept poking me in the eyeball and eventually it was a damn health hazard. Husband, God bless, thinks that if you once bought something you should never have to buy it again cause...well, you already got one, right?

Also got an Ipod, an older thing. Something nuts about the battery, it won’t hold a charge. Play about three songs and it runs out of juice, won’t recharge. Good for playing in car though, plug into lighter. Gotta send it somewhere to get battery replaced and already I’m annoyed with Apple cause they are so proprietary as to be almost robbers.

Can’t play this song on my computer cause I already put it on two other puters, which was true. But so what? they were MY computers and I paid for every song so why am I limited to only two computers? And they don’t make the battery replacable? I told husband I’d had it with Apple, that they stick their dumb Mp5 or whatever proprietary files and shove them all.

So I got something called a SAN disk...plays normal files, battery replacable...well husband, who got it for me, says it works great.

Also, got beautiful new golf umbrella, wind resistant, durable and strong. Dog thanks husband too as if she must walk in rain she squints her eyes. With umbrella large enough for us both now we can walk in the rain.

Our anniversary was 6/24...twenty two years I done put up with that man. Got a real neat bluetooth kind of thingy for the cell phone...let’s you talk on cell hands free in the car, you can just wave at it to answer calls, it also works on voice commands.

Had about eleventy eleven people wish me Happy bday on facebook, half of them I don’t know and just now granddaughter Kaitlyn called me and sung the entire Happy Birthday song to me over the telephone.

Time for a nap...thanks all.

Next wink start new job as a...TADA...Reality Show Reviewer.

More on this later maybe. It’s a hoot.

“If she were capable of doing so, she would have already done it.”

Not so. She is now in a different venue when she needs the votes to win. Before, it didn’t matter what was said about her. In fact, the LSM comments were more of a badge of honor.

Where would you have put those "surpluses" other than in interest bearing T-bills?

Actually, if I were responsible for investing the nation's retirement fund, I would NOT invest it in the nation's checkbook. That's like an employer taking the employee's pension fund and investing it entirely in the employer's common stock.

Diversify, Diversify, Diversify...

I only caught the last part of the Mickey B interview before dashing off for church and I noticed Chris Wallace asked Bachman if she was a flake. What a bizarre question. Otherwise I missed everything. I’ll try to catch the rest of the Michelle Bachman interview later on the repeat. BTW has anyone received Bachman for President stuff in their mail?

Michelle Bachmann is a woman of good character, so I would not be surprised if she does her best to be attentive to their lives as they move on from her mentoring.

I know this is hard for you to understand but there are actual living, breathing, announced candidates running for the GOP nomination right now.

NONE is named Sarah Palin.

I'm sure she's on the verge of announcing this week July Fourth July 27th by September 12th 14th 22nd err ... by November 2011 2012.

I would suggest the election is about “0bama” AND the Democrats.

0bamacare socialized the country, killed jobs and is destroying our medical care. Because of the recession, Democrats tried to cover their tracks by artificially stimulating the economy. Didn’t work then and won’t work in the future, with or without 0bamacare.

In an effort to improve the economy, he and the Democrats made it worse. Resulting in high unemployment, businesses leaving or failing and an over zealous regulatory structure. Democrats have funded everything since 2007 and after four years everything is worse.

Energy needs a drill here, drill now policy. Period. Energy provides jobs and benefits for everyone.

If we want to cut corporate subsidies, cut all the green policies and subsidies we’ve been spending for decades. Stopping green subsides would save us billions of dollars.

All Republicans in congress can do is delay and stop some of the problems. We need a Republican President and Senate to augment the great work the US House is doing to cut spending, regulations and taxes.

Democrat scare tactics is nothing more than words in a sinking boat. They cannot and will not save the boat but they make some people think they can.

0bama and the Democrats can’t use a crayon to draft anything meaningful for America. If you cannot color within the lines, you aren’t very good at it.

Calling the elected U.S. president ‘unAmerican’ is a perfect way to kill your campaign.

No offense to anyone and I like Michelle Bachmann.

The problem today is Bachmann as president will make decisions. Her hiring and using Ed Rollins shows she made a bad decision, at least once. But this once is important.

I have worked a campaign with Rollins and we got our tails destroyed. His advice was horrible and it showed daily as we were trying to get our guy elected. The attack on Palin is simply one of Rollins signature strategies to demonize the opposition when the truth would have worked. The man is a snake and I would not want to be associated with any campaign that uses him.

"My campaign manager, Ed Rollins, has made some comments about Sarah Palin that were not authorized by me, and which I consider to be inappropriate. Sarah Palin is a good conservative friend of mine, and I have directed Mr. Rollins to stick to issues during this campaign." - Michele Bachmann

THAT is what I would like to have seen from her.

bray, you seem sincere and fair.

There’s a problem with something you said about Michele.

You criticized her for not calling Obama Unamerican.

You like Sarah Palin...so do I. As I also like Michele. If Sarah Palin were asked if Obama is Unamerican, what do you think she would say?

I am certain she would not say he is Unamerican. She would put her answer in different terms, such as that he believes in a far different kind of America than she does. But I am certain she would not say “President Obama is Unamerican”.

Would you criticize her if she did that, as you criticized Michele Bachmann?

She completely backed away from it on Schieffer after he played her statement saying that earlier. It would be refreshing for a candidate to say what they think rather than what will poll focus the best. How can anybody say he’s patriotic or pro-American.

The candidate who tells the truth and doesn’t play politics will win it going away. She or any candidate can’t assume they have the TParty and have to go after the Rino moderates. I like her but she didn’t do herself any favors today by trying to couch statements and yes I think Palin would have hit that fastball down the middle out of the park.

Palin is more battle tested.

Pray for America
