ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gay marriage will become legal in New York state after the Republican-led state Senate voted to approve it. Advocates are calling it a historic step as New York stands to become the sixth but by far the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo lobbied hard for the bill and has promised to sign it.
The Senate vote is viewed as a major gain in an effort to allow gay marriage nationally.

9. Massive and literally devilish corruption on a massive scale.
10. Raging support rushing to overtly manifest the satanic global government at all costs as soon as possible.
11. Massive deadly population reduction schemes by said global government folks firmly in place and beginning to operate or on the brink of implementation in devastating ways.
12. Fathers neglecting their children and children in rebellion against their fathers. In the present situation I would counsel cutting the mods some slack. Surely on even the best day they are handling many things and we only see the tip of the iceberg.
No doubt all of us who have been around here a long time have seen the chaos of liberals gloating of what they perceive to be a big win against us. I'm sure this NY-homosexuality law is no different and the fact that we are not being subjected to their rants on thread probably means the mods have been shutting them down at every turn.
Ministers and rabbis are hired by the congregations. The liberal congregations will force their clergy to perform gay marriages whether they like it or not - or face losing their jobs. Way to go, New York State! Disgusting.

The rants of the trolls give us the opportunity to share with our fellow freepers the arguments that we can use against them. It does us no good to pretend that these people don't exist or to ignore their rants. We need to sharpen our swords and the best way to do that is by clanging steel upon steel.
I posted the noob's unsolicited freep mail along with my response. I got several positive comments from long time freepers about my arguments. Then the mod deleted the whole post and later accused me of "actively promoting the homosexual agenda". That's insane.
I was presenting an argument to be used against the claim that we are all a bunch of backwoods bigots because we don't support gay marriage and embrace their perverted lifestyles.
I guess we can bury our heads in the sand and just pretend these trolls don't exist. I, for one, am ready willing and able to take them on one on one in a sword fight. That is what Free Republic should be about; taking the fight to the liberals and not just sitting here patting ourselves on the back because we are not like them.

I think you are confused as you continue to present a false dichotomy that you call the 'conservative' position e.g. marriage is defined by either the state or by the fed and you seem to miss the true conservative position which is premised upon the unalienable and self evident truths with the added caveat that all powers not given to the fed AND the states is reserved by the people.
The obvious question to ask yourself is WHEN did society decide the state or for that matter ANY government can define marriage?
Marriage, the institution, has been around a long time before this government. It has been valued and given privilege by society because it promotes the common good of society; namely posterity and citizenship.
Homosexual sex promotes disease, death, and self destruction. To suggest it okay and conservative for a government at the state level but not at the federal level to promote and grant privilege to those actions that comprise the destruction of the common good is absurd. Toleration of insanity and stupidity in a free society is one thing; however, institutionalizing and promoting it is quite another.
Best I can tell the desire was to not give free advertising or a gloating soapbox to the liberal/anti-Christ trolls.
But I do not see where there would be any problem at all in posting a "How to respond to the homosexual claim that ..."

On Thursday, June 3, American Family Association delivered 474,161 petition signatures to Home Depot chairman Frank Blake. AFA also addressed the board of directors and shareholders during their annual meeting.
AFA Vice-president Buddy Smith appealed to Chairman Blake to review Home Depot’s extensive support for homosexual activism and direct the company toward neutrality in the culture war.
Chairman Blake quickly discounted the petitions by reaffirming Home Depot’s commitment to dedicating corporate resources to groups who advocate gay marriage and the advancement of homosexuality and transgenderism.
Of more importance was the instruction not to LOOK BACK!
