CARROLL, IOWA - His fate in the hands of a jury, Michael Swanson was escorted past a group of TV cameras Thursday in the Carroll County Courthouse. The 18-year-old extended both middle fingers and smiled.
That was before he learned he would spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting convenience store clerk Sheila Myers in the face, killing her. That, too, didn't seem to faze him.

Quoting him, what’s the difference between him dying at 77 or him being murdered in prison at 18. I mean what’s the big deal?

Iowa has no death penalty. Smirkboy showed no remorse from the time he got caught, throughout the entire trial process. He was evaluated by a psychiatrist, who found that there could be no insanity defense. The punk is fully aware of what right and wrong is, and just plain doesn’t care. His reasoning was explained as the same as dumping a bucket of water on a person about to go into a swimming pool, the person is going to get wet anyway. Thus, everyone dies, whether by natural causes or shot by this punk. No difference, so what.
This punk is just plain pure evil. The sick thing about it is if he showed some restraint, he could have been a politician and really mess people over. Yes, too many comparisons between the punk and some people in the current Regime.
This is one of those cases where the person is not human, but truly evil.
He was not mentally ill; he enjoyed killing 2 innocent people. Truly the face of evil.
I think this guy should be tortured to death by the victims family.

I have a feeling this guy is a real predator and most will learn to fear him...as they should. This guy needs a bullet badly.
Too bad he can’t get the death penalty. At least he’ll be out of the gene pool.
If I were one of this guy's fellow inmates I would keep as far away as possible. If they do mess with him I would recommend finishing the job and make retribution impossible.
