“The Obamas and their supporters sure are putting a dent in the lobster supply.”

Where’s the outrage from PETA on this whole thing???

Instead of contributing this money to a campaign war chest, why don’t they put their money where their mouths are and contribute it to the US Treasury?

Better yet——Why don’t they seek out someone in need? Help put food on table, catch up on a mortgage, pay a medical bill?

I happened, by odd coincidence, to be nearby on Lexington Ave yesterday evening. Was surprised to see anti O protesters in the street.

Compare this menu with any Obama WH function. The organizers clearly are maximizing the contributions. Any decent butcher will have prime black angus.I can buy B/A short ribs for $5.99/lb. The wines are cheap. The price quoted is per bottle. Knock off 5 bucks each for volume.I have ten or twelve bottles as expensive in my garage. For the high rollers at this affair the menu is the equivelent of the White Castle # 1.

Hen of the woods is a type of wild mushroom often used in Viennese cuisine.

“Why don’t they seek out someone in need?”

Oh, but they are - Obama’s in need (of re-election by the dumbmasses :-)

“Help put food on table, catch up on a mortgage, pay a medical bill?”

BHO intends to have Big Brother do even more of that - for the same dumbmasses.

Whatever you say ~ still, they’re Democrats ~ they’ll believe whatever the partyline dictates. They’d eat toadstools. That’s probably what they were really served anyway.

ooh my hubby didn’t like those. Said they didn’t taste like sliders. I love the Jalapeno sliders. Nothing like White Castle sliders. That’s real food. That “hen of the woods” looks like somebody already ate it. Barf.

This is, by my accounting, Obama's 30th fundraiser this year... and the election is still one-and-a-half years away. He's already got upwards of $750 million in the bank. Now, there is no way that any Presidential campaign operation could ever spend that much money. So what is he really trying to buy?

ACORN's second coming.
Gotta pay the people to steal/fabricate/discover/ the votes.

The wines poured: a 2009 Sandhi Santa Barbara Chardonnay ($28 per bottle according to the winery’s website) and a 2008 Copain Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Tous Ensembles (also under $30 per bottle according to pricing online.)

Who in the world picked the wine list - some Chi-town summer intern? They should have consulted Biden; he's mooched enough grand country club dinners to have absorbed some menu skills. For this kind of spread I'd expect a real Puligny-Montrachet, not some astringent left coast jug product. Ribs and tenderloin is a tough combination, but a Pinot Noir of any substance would so overpower the tenderloin as to make it irrelevant.

One thing for sure, you can't buy taste.

Let them eat.. Kale!

US President Barack Obama speaks at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Obama will wade into the angry impasse over raising the US government's borrowing limit next week, hosting meetings with rival Republican and Democratic leaders in the Senate. (AFP/Saul Loeb)

I think the Japanese call the Maitake mushroom. Very good. Only found one this year though.

It’s been so long since my family has been able to eat steak, the prices are so high, I don’t think we’ve had it for about three years. We used to have it once a week during the Bush years though, man I miss those days. I can’t wait to vote this commie out!

It is strange. Someone that could afford to drop 35K per plate would want to hang around the marxist that wants to punish those very same people. This was an influence dinner, but the jokes on them. baraq was there for their cash and will stab them in the back. suckers.

How come baraq only does fundraisers in NYC and San Fran?
What about Chicago? Doesn’t he have any friends or neighbors there? Bill Ayers? Rev Wrong? What’s the deal?

$35,800-a-plate

Maybe $1,000 for the swanky food, and $34,800 going straight to the Workers of the World Unite Party.

Not only are Herzog and other Israeli wines delicious, the original artwork on many of their bottles is fairy-tale gorgeous.

I was going to ask Kitchen what, exactly, he would pair with the tenderloin and ribs if Pinot is ‘too overpowering’.

We had a thread six months or so ago about Maine lobster making a big comeback due to the lack of cod eating the larvae. I was in WallyWorld today picking up some battery cleaner, and wandered over and noticed a bag - about 6 big ones - of Maine claws for 10.00. Didn’t buy it, should have...
