Chicago Police Chief Garry McCarthy told parishoners at Saint Sabina Church earlier this month that the easy availability of guns in the United States is the extension of a tradition of "government-sponsored racism" that began with slavery and Jim Crow.
McCarthy -— like many urban police officials an advocate of strict gun control -- was speaking at a liberal, activist church whose priest, Father Michael Pfleger, drew national attention for mocking Hillary Clinton in 2008.
"This is sensitive. You know, because everybody’s afraid of race. Have you noticed that? Everybody’s afraid of race," McCarthy, a former New York and Newark police official said. "So here’s what I want to tell you. See, let’s see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting’ scared? Government sponsored racism."
"Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy: Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children," he said.

McCarthy said, recalling back from the scene of a crime to switch on the television and find "Sarah Palin's Alaska" showing.
"She was caribou hunting, and talking about the right to bear arms," he said. "Why wasn’t she at the crime scene with me?"

Gun control started in the South after the Civil War to disarm “uppity negros” and make them compliant. And which party supported that? The same party which supports disarming “uppity negros” today: Democrats.

Sounds like that church needs to loose it’s tax exempt status for “preaching” politics from the pulpit.
Actually McCarthy has got it completely backwards; many of the states have rewritten their constitutions since the Civil War and when done severe anti-gun restrictions were written in. These restrictions were written with the sole purpose of excluding private possession of firearms by ex-slaves. The logic of the time was that if a white should be observed with a weapon in his possession it would more than likely be ignored but if it should be a black, then the black would be arrested and his firearm would be confiscated. What I'm posting is not new news. It's been widely written about by objective historians...
In most of the urban centers across this country hand gun ownership is illegal yet there still is crime because criminals dont care about breaking laws. Oh the insanity of voters that fall for gun control.

Unfortunately his congregation is almost all black. And blacks are allowed to preach politics from the pulpit, as we’ve repeatedly seen.
Or visiting whites like bill clinton, who made a habit of preaching from the pulpit of a black church on election day.
