If you're right and Perry's in, then I doubt Palin will run. She'll endorse Perry and the choice will rapidly come into focus: Perry or Romney. Everyone else is a nonstarter.

For conservatives the choice is no choice at all. Perry is not perfect but Romney is a progressive; his nomination would turn 2012 into yet another lose/lose proposition. It might also trigger a serious third-party candidacy that would give Obama his only chance at victory. Romney as President would be marginally better than Obama and marginally worse than Bush. Perry would be an improvement on both. He meets the minimum requirements for a GOP nominee and Romney doesn't.

If Governor Perry is getting in then he's got to be our guy, warts and all. He's a bit of a let down for those of us who have been dreaming of Sarah, but he'll do.

Warts is right but you’re correct all around like it or not.It seems as if Palin is waiting for a VP nod from someone. I agree she will endorse him (as she has before) But I am guessing Perry will not pick Palin as VP. Who knows though it could already be a done deal? Palin is late to the show and I also join you in hoping she does not go third party and elect Obama.

I won't be able to be happy about his position on immigration. Pandering to La Raza is a huge turnoff.

People need to understand amnesty by another name is still amnesty. Glossed over amnesty is still amnesty and in no way guarantees future votes for republicans. In fact, the uneducated and needy 3 worlders will most likely give the democrats the edge in the future.

The dems may lose this round. In fact, they may like it if another republican takes the credit for mass amnesty. They can always say, well, we didn't do it, you did.

I understand the picture, but in the primary I will vote for Bachmann because she has it right on this issue.

In the General, if isn't a conservative, I will vote against Obama, but I won't be pumped about it.

Of course it’s only April. Things may change by 2012. Heck, maybe Bolton will become the frontrunner (I wish!). That being said, I think your post is right on, and that’s how I think I may be leaning. We will see. In 2008, by the time I voted in Texas, McCain had it almost wrapped up. The Huckster, a distant second going into the Texas primary, conceded just a few days later. In effect, we in Texas had no real conservative choice.

Perry is not all bad. He is very pro 2A. He is a great campaigner, not afraid to take issues to the Democrats and to call them out on their socialism.
