Video: Sen. Rand Paul tells TSA to end random pat-downs
The Daily Caller ^ | June 22, 2011 | C.J. Ciaramella

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul told the Transportation Security Administration today that it should end what he called the “universality of insult” of random pat-downs of passengers.

In a meeting of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Paul grilled TSA Administrator John Pistole over the recent pat-down of a six-year-old Kentucky girl, a video of which went viral over the Internet.

“It makes me think you’re clueless, if you think she’s going to attack our country and you’re not doing your research on the people who want to attack our country,” Paul said. “It absolutely must involve a risk assessment of those who are traveling. And the fact that she’s being patted down and I don’t feel comfortable really with your response that we are no longer doing random pat-downs. I think you ought to get rid of the random pat-downs. The American public is unhappy with them, they’re unhappy with the invasiveness of them. The Internet is full of jokes about the invasiveness of the pat-down searches and we ought to just consider, is this what we’re willing to do.”

TSA Administrator John Pistole acknowledged that “we need to be smarter and use a little more common sense.” He said that TSA is working toward improving risk-based assessment. Pistole also said airport screeners are now told to make repeated attempts to screen young children without using invasive pat-downs.

There's a video within the article at the site of a little 6y/o getting a pat-down. It's enraging and disgusting.

John Pistole is a scary looking individual. Some sort of institutional cruelty hiding behind those eyes.

Political correctness may yet get us all killed.

Use risk assessment and common sense? That’s the whole point. We’re not allowed to use risk assessment. Instead bureaucratic decisions were made that everyone is an equal threat. We decided that we need to bend over backwards to prove to people like bin Laden and C.A.I.R. that we don’t discriminate.

As if bending over backwards to prove to Bin Laden and C.A.I.R. that we don’t discriminate would somehow end the Islamic terror threat.

Yep, that’s a big issue right there. We’re not allowed to think or use any reasoning ability on this. Instead, granny in the wheelchair has to be considered an equal threat as Mohammed from Yemen, and equal to the American mom bringing a toddler through security.

Everything about TSA is enraging and disgusting. They have morphed into the Civilian National Defense Force. They are the enemy at this point. Make no mistake about it. They must go.

So much for airline security. Here's an example of the vetting of airline employees, this one allegedly hired using a fake ID. How difficult would it be for one or more terrorists with airport access and knowledge of airport procedures to truly make TSA pat-downs and x-rays a farce?

Illegal alien working as flight attendance charged with identity theft

On Friday, Jophan Porter, 38, was arrested in Miami International Airport after it was discovered that he was in possession of several documents in the name of Anthony Frair, a New York resident.

Porter is actually in the country illegally from Guyana and has been working as a flight attendant with American Eagle Airlines, and has been doing so with a Department of Transportation ID card and a passport in Frair’s name.

The real Anthony Frair recently discovered that someone was using his identity when he attempted to apply for food stamps.

Right. We should not be searched unless there is reasonable cause to think we have a bomb....if we are wearing a burqa....yes....we should be searched. if we are muslim....yes, we should be searched...if we are a 6 year old Christian boy....never. Christians don’t put bombs on their children.

Political correctness is unconstitutional...it is Marxism....to destroy reason and logic....which is SUPPOSED to be the foundation of our laws.....this twisting of terms....to make us THINK we are racist when we search Muslims....is right out of the book of Gramsci and Marcuse—to destroy us from within.

By focusing on non-threats...it takes many more millions of dollars and actually hinders safety and, of course, is unreasonable search and is unconstitutional.

I hardly travel by air at all, but this week I'm out and among 'em.

I saw a TSA boss uniformed like he was a Mexican General.

It was hilarious.

No mention of the nude scans. Notice no one has ever seen these things.

In all this hubbub, I’ve been hearing nothing about attempts to improve the ability to sense bomb chemicals. To me, this would seem to be key to smart searches.

Christians don’t put bombs on their children.

Baloney. Tell that to Irish Catholics. I'm not defending the practices of the TSA, just asking that you be accurate and fair in your statements.

No doubt. Despite all the trappings, TSA are not proper law enforcement. A plastic badge from a cereal box has just as much authority.

I am talking about Americans....but, you are right....there are a few crazy people of all stripes....I am talking about where you have a large expected number of insane people who actually teach young children to kill people who don’t think like they do.

Christians aren’t following their religion when they kill innocent people....muslims are. There is a big difference in worldview, if you adopt the religion which condemns lying and the one that embraces it.

In other words, people who kill in the name of Christianity aren’t Christians. They are acting in defiance of Christianity. Muslims are told to kill the infidels and we know that and so should profile==esp. if they are devout muslims...just like profiling any other radical group like the IRA.
