Delta Air Lines' plan to add Saudi Arabian Airlines to its SkyTeam Alliance of partnering companies would require the American carrier to ban Jews and holders of Israeli passports from boarding flights from New York or Washington bound for Jeddah, prompting outraged accusations of illegal religious discrimination.

The issue, which has caught the attention of the American Center for Law and Justice already, was raised when Washington attorney Jeffrey Lovitky was perusing airline procedures for travel.

Just for fun, assuming this story is true, I can see the new Delta advertising billboards:

“Fly the Jew-Free Skies of Delta”

As to why Jews might fly to Saudi Arabia - some are journalists covering the country/Arabian peninsula. I remember that many years ago the Jewish husband of a friend of mine had access to many of Saudi Arabia’s top leaders for a book he was doing. No problems.

The country has a 21st century facade and a 14th century mentality but a few Saudis are actually decent people (but don’t mention their names. We want them to stay alive).

Delta wants it both ways. They say it is the passengers' responsibility to be accepted at their destination, yet they also say it is their responsibility to ensure the proper documents are had. They want to say "it's not us, it's the contract between the destination country and the traveler", but zey end up saying "papers, bitte". They are actively enabling Muslim bigotry.

"If a passenger travels without proper documents, the passenger may be denied entry into that country and our airline may be fined. Delta assumes responsibility for ensuring that each passenger boarding our aircraft has the proper documents for travel to their ticketed destination."

This isn't about a Saudi Airline, this is about an American airline entering into a business arrangement that would require them to deny service on a route based on religion. Since they can't "usurp" a nation's laws, how can they "usurp" OUR laws prohibiting discrimination?

Imagine the screaming in the media if the airline denied BLACKS the right to fly on a certain route.

question: they are not allowed to enter the country now... right?

so is this a case of stopping them from getting on a plane they can't get off from???

Yes.

But, Delta shouldn't be doing work of the Suadis. They should accept all passengers who pass the security check, who pay for their ticket, and who expect to enter the country they are flying to. If the passenger turns out to be wrong, Delta should pay any fine the Saudis impose and take their lumps.

If they co-operate with the Muslim's bigotry, they are an accomplice in bigotry.

Of course it would be a good thing if Jews could travel anywhere in Saudi Arabia without risk. My point is that, as things currently stand, it is unlikely that Jeddah (Mecca, Medina, etc.) is in the travel plans of any person identified as a Jew, for obvious reasons.

So, by the tone of your posts, I assume you find it acceptable that Delta does the Saudi's bidding, because it's an obvious and intractable case of bigotry. Since discrimination is compulsory in Saudi Arabia, it's OK for an American country to enable it, despite American law.

While it is true that there are not many of us Jews that would even care to fly to Saudi Arabia, how is it that an airlines operated by a US corporation even allowed to fly to Saudi Arabia, given that this is clearly a racist policy? I thought that the law protected an upheld the rights of ALL US citizens, regardless of race, religion or creed.

Delta may claim they do not discriminate, but by agreeing to abide by this racist policy, they are a participant. To hell with morals. To hell with doing the right thing. But this is “business”. Anything for money, right?

If it was another American minority that had to be the subject of this racist policy, all hell would break loose, and all of our “outspoken civil rights leaders,” in the grand old tradition, would be in front of the MSM cameras, ad nauseum, screaming for the government to take action against the airlines, and the nation who offers such an apartheid policy . They would then be organizing boycotts, strikes and other actions.. Funny, not a peep from them....... not one of them. After all, it is only the Jooooooos.........

Another interesting point is that it is Saudi Arabia that is pressuring everyone, including the US, to force their “Piece Plan” on Israel. Although, Obama is more than happy with it. It is the Muslim monarch of Saudi Arabia, that Obama bowed to.

Incredible. Let someone adopt a “no Muslim” fly policy and you’ll see all Hades break out.

The liberals, lame stream media, RINOs, and the Muslim would be foaming at the mouth.

Delta could say it doesn’t care what a passenger is, but the passenger has to get a visa from Saudi Arabia in order to board a flight there. And if the visa is city-specific, so be it. Let the heat be on Saudi Arabia if they refuse to grant these visas to Jews (or Christians, whatever). Delta should not be Saudi Arabia’s agent.

What Jews fly, walk, or otherwise travel to Jeddah?

Do a little research.

Saudis don't want Jews in their country. They won't give Visa's to people with Israeli passports or those with a enter or exit stamp to Israel in their passport.

Glad you liked it, I spent a lot of time on it.

I did have to note it was not real and sarcasm, too many folks thought it was an actual news story!

Cheers,

The actual planes into Saudi are Saudi Airlines planes. This is no different than Star Alliance (think Continental, now merged into United), who flies to Frankfurt and then switches you to a Lufthansa plane. If you’re going to boycott Delta, you’ll need to boycott the new United, and American/British Airways as well.

Of greater interest is just how this story gets written in USA Today, then taken down almost immediately after the damage is done, but never mentions that the Star Alliance has been doing this for DECADES. Hmm, where is United’s HQ - Chicago you say? A Dem state? And Delta’s? Oh, Atlanta, a conservative state? Draw your own conclusion!
