Palin Bus Tour Takes Extended Pit Stop

Less than a month after she appeared poised to shake up the Republican presidential campaign, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has once again receded from the 2012 limelight. When Palin launched her "One Nation" bus tour on Memorial Day amid a swirl of media attention and excitement from her fervent fan base, many political observers who had once dismissed her were reminded of the jolt that her candidacy could provide to what has thus far been a relatively sleepy GOP nominating fight.

I was, ah, deeply amused, with the poster who “figured she’d be in Iowa by now. Why the delay?” As someone has already asked, how did he figure that?

Sarah Palin is truly an amazing and enigmatic individual. Has there ever been anyone, in the history of politics, declared "irrelevant" by the media while at the same time falling under intense, borderline sociopathic, scrutiny by the very same media?

Is there anyone, other than PDS FReepers, that is more pathetic than the eneMedia?

Everyone knows, they just don’t know when. Keeps the LSM (her best advertising) crazy.

To: section9 ...They are probably moving up their timetable to Phase II, but are letting people like Bachmann go first. Not convinced that Perry is in it, btw.

From your keyboard to God's ear! Chris, when do YOU think that Governor Palin will decide? - Fourth of July? Alaska lawsuit deadline day, 7/26? Labor Day? Or?

Chris your always a great read here, good questions Ron....

My question is what was phase one, laying the ground work, i.e SarahPAC, Fox News, the books, the TV show, The bus tour and potentially the movie to reframe herself and her family?

Is phase 2 letting the back-benchers go 1st and let the lame streams suck up their own oxygen? Also the 2nd tier types are running and are potentially bulding teams that will shift Sarah if and when they loose steam...

I hate to say this, but a smarmy leftist could have made that repugnant comment. Sarah’s daily schedule would leave most of us gasping for air after a couple hours. Bob

She isn’t going to announce until after July 26th anyway, as that date is the official Persecution Limit for Alaskan Governors.

What is keeping them from filing, at the last minute, just anticipating her announcing? I don't buy this theory at all.

The July 26th cut-off date doesn’t preclude last minute nuisance filings but it does let her legal staff know the approximate costs of her defense and the amount of time she might have to devote to her defense. A short while back her lawyers succeeded in move on case to a federal court (IIRC).

Shutting the door allows her to plan for the future knowing she won’t get bush-whacked later. Sound business plan.

Nothing factual in it either.

What is the significance of that date?

YEP. As I said in a previous post, no earlier than Sept.

So she took a break... I agree that she makes a lot of appearances and can easily be swamped. But if she is actually going to run for President, this was probably the wrong move.

Of course, there are so many Palin lovers here that I’m sure many will be happy to tell me what a doofus - or “smarmy leftist” I am. But I remain unconvinced that she will run for President.

Sure.

Dan Quayle. Anthony Weiner. Arnold Swarchenegger

Politician or non-politician, all you need to get lots and lots and LOTS of media attention is the ability to sell lots and lots and LOTS of copies if your name is on the headline.

So she’s either running, on some wildly unconventional plan that doesn’t even keep her supporters updated; or she’s not running - in which case, why didn’t she say so long ago? or she hasn’t made up her mind yet, and is waiting to see ... what? if people really want her to run? If she will get a better offer from somewhere else? if the situation in the country really demands it?

There is no behavior that Gov. Palin can do that will make her devotees any one less whit convinced that she is the greatest political personage since Ronald Reagan. Nor is there any percentage in trying to alert them that she may not, indeed, be that.

But Reagan was nothing if not reliable. If he said he would carry out an action, he did it. If he was elected to an office, he finished it out. Reagan would never have started a bus tour with much public hullabaloo, and then taken an unannounced hiatus for a month in the middle of it. You could always count on Ronald Reagan to see his endeavors to their close.

Didn’t say you were one, just that the comment was what I’d expect to hear from someone on the dark side.

It is facinating to watch so many alledged adults play pretend. The game can be fun. But if you’re in a room with a mamma grizzily bear pretending she isnt there you’re in for a nasty surprise. Particularly if you’re between her and her cubs.

I ask these PDS folks where the hate comes from and they disappear. It is viceral hate we’re talking about.

I suspect some of them are demrat (including RINOs) lurkers. Others are libertarians.

Why would she run against a Bachmann, West or Cain second term? Makes absolutely no sense.
