[...] The former Utah Republican governor and Obama ambassador to China is the answer to an election-year problem that doesn't exist. The quadrennial "problem," in the minds of Beltway GOP strategists and liberal media chin-pullers, is that the Republican Party isn't moderate, civil, self-critical or inclusive enough.
Huntsman is the latest no-labels flavor of the month, a straw man of the same people who have spent the past year smearing entitlement reformers as senior citizen-killers, budget hawks as Hitler's spawn, border-security activists as racists, and leading GOP women as sluts, nuts and bimbos.
Just like the failed 2008 GOP contender whose consultants are now fueling the Huntsman bid, McCain 2.0 is a big-spending accommodationist more in tune with the Democratic elite than with the conservative rank-and-file. In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday, Huntsman assailed the current economic crisis overseen by the Obama administration as "totally unacceptable" and "totally un-American." Yet, Huntsman retains nothing but "respect" for his former boss in the White House and laments the loss of "civility" wrought by "corrosive" political debates.
This is all you need to know about the manufacturing of the Huntsman candidacy: Swooning reporters far outnumbered supporters at the kickoff in Liberty Park and at a follow-up rally in New Hampshire. CNN's enamored anchor Wolf Blitzer gushed: "Here's what I especially liked about Jon Huntsman's presidential announcement in front of the Statue of Liberty. He called for some civility in the race for the White House. Unlike several of the other Republican candidates, he did not open with a blistering assault on President Obama."
Yeah. Who do all those uncivil Republicans running against Obama think they are opposing the opposition with oppositional rhetoric? Heaven forfend.

Ping.
Methinks that his campaign is DOA.

i hope so! anyone who respects Obama, and calls him patriotic, is a liar, or a fool beyond all redemption.
(and, after listening to his speech, it’s the later.
the background engine noises were more interesting...)
I just wonder what Huntsman is thinking.
He is virtually unknown, undefined (and undefinable, it seems), he has no natural base, no money, no “hook”, and he has no connection to any early primary State.
What narrative explains how Huntsman’s campaign might take off?
I’m mystified.
Has Wolf Blitzer ever complained about Obama’s attacks on Republicans? [crickets]
Im mystified.
Well, for one thing, he seems to have a unique take on who should get the blame for our lagging economy and sagging power.
Us.
He's got a point. It was the voters, after all, who elected Barack Obama.
Someone should devise a scale of mainstream media approval of a GOP Presidential candidate and relate it in inverse fashion to their suitability for office.
Huntsman - this dog won’t hunt.
Afther serving on Obama`s team for 2 years, Huntsman is running against his former boss, eh?
I don`t suppose the vetting process prior to his appointment as Ambassador to China will come back to haunt him, with a ready base of info in the hands of Obama`s people... hmmmm???
Huntsman`s having been one of Obama`s cabin boys...along with dem-light stances on issues.. forever leaves a stain on him. He`ll never get my vote.
How might his campaign take off?
A few ad buys from his boss...er...”former” boss`s campaign billion$ might come in handy for him. Nothing like being in the position to manufacture your own pet “opponent” who comes only a hair`s breadth away from gushing like Chrissy Matthews about leg thrills at the mention of your name.
Huntsman is another of whom the organized looters of the Federal Treasury would find as an “acceptable” figurehead.
Nothing more...or less
I want Huntsman to run--he can only hurt Romney!
The MSM buzz for Huntsman demonstrates one or both of the following:
(1) They don't really understand the GOP Base.
(2) They are just freakin' idiots.
I suppose that there is also the conspiracy theory that they are trying to pick the GOP nominee...
McCain tells voters: We have nothing to fear with Barack Obama in the White House (2008 FLASHBACK)

John McCain is in more hot water after appearing to concede he could lose the US presidential election by telling voters they have nothing to fear with Barack Obama in the White House.
The extraordinary gaffe comes just three weeks before Election Day with the Republican candidate trailing badly in the polls.
Now Republican aides fear he may have further damaged his chances by accepting the possibility that he could be defeated.
(snip)
Mr. McCain made his remark while appealing for calm on the campaign trail amid fears that angry outbursts from supporters were raging out of control.
After a particularly fired-up rally in Minnesota, Mr McCain was booed when he tried to soothe the crowd, defending Mr. Obama as “a decent person and a person you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”
Huntsman is nothing but a ‘rat plant in the Rep primary. RINO is too kind a label for what this guy is.
Even when he is shattered in the primaries, he will speak of a “third party” run, so as to divide the vote and win another term for our Dear Leader.
Huntsman is Perot 3.0.
Yup. I will never, ever forgive McCain for what he did to us -- and to the rest of this country -- that fateful day.
FUJM!!!
McCain has been in the tank for the Left ever since they gave him a pass on his Keating Five corruption.
They rebranded him a paragon of virtue and have since had him at their beck and call when they needed opposition to the Right or its candidate, cover for the Left or its candidate and in 2008 - a GOP presidential candidate to take a dive for the most flawed and defeatable candidate possible, Barack Hussein Obama.
Huntsman fits the same role.
There's something about his face which reminds me of Jimmy Carter. I saw his "coming out" in NH last month and it was creepy how he used his daughter, adopted from China, as a prop.
I saw a speech he gave prior to being confirmed as Obama's ambassador to China and he came off as an elitist snob who thinks highly of himself because of his relative fluency in Mandarin and own fascination with Chinese culture. He's mealy-mouthed.
"Civility" is not going to win against the Chicago machine, against a man who said "Argue with neighbors, get in their face," "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" and more.
"Civility" will not win against Obama's lying, mocking, smug tone pervasive in every syllable in every speech.
"Civility" is not going to win when your positions are demagogued as an "extreme."
