In her memoir due out Friday, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far," the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor/potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin reveals her true feelings about the father of her son, the daughter of her mother's 2008 running mate, and much more.
Palin writes that the first time she met the 26-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, she "ignored us during the entire visit." This was just before Senator McCain introduced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin adds that she "had a sneaking suspicion I might need to watch my back."
"Every time we saw Meghan, she seemed to be constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining," she writes. "Oh the complaining."
Cindy McCain, the senator's wife, also rubbed the eldest Palin daughter the wrong way.
"I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes, adding that the would-be first lady looked "like a queen" and held "herself like royalty."
Palin writes that she was shocked when the senator's wife offered to be a godmother to her unborn baby: "I had just met her and I wondered why she wanted any type of guardianship over my child."
Palin also shares not-so-fond memories of her 2010 stint on "Dancing With the Stars," where she and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, finished in third place.
"I noticed some of the contestants rolled their eyes when they realized we'd survived to dance another day," she writes, adding that some of the contenders voted off "literally would not speak to us or acknowledge our presence."
Bristol Palin Saves Most Biting Words for Levi Johnston

We all know what Meghan is like. Am I to discount anything Bristol says conforming to that picture, simply because Palin was an unwed mother? Oh, please!
Lol, maybe Gaga has promised if anything happens to Elton, she'll raise the boy in the best traditions of rock and roll pop culture.
I've always thought the godfather/godmother thing was more for children who didn't have grandparents and aunts and uncles who could care for them if anything happen to parents. There are plenty of Palins if anything happened to Bristol, so the offer would have seemed odd from that standpoint. But I'm no expert on the practice.
>>It was extremely presumptuous of her to suggest taking such a place of honor, given that there was no familial connection and she hardly even knew Bristol.
Agreed.
I'm wondering if Cindy McCain wasn't somehow trying to embarrass the Palins?
“Oh, go ahead, attack me for stating the truth...”as I see it.””
Nope, there is quite frankly enough attacks on FR these days already, which is as good a reason to refrain as any.
“How much credence would you give a hypothetical teenage, unmarried mother friend of your daughter’s (or son) for her criticisms of others?”
It would depend on the woman, quite frankly.
People make mistakes. It is how they recover that really counts for who they are in my book. Bristol has had unique oppurtunities for a teenage mother since 2008, that is true. I do not think she was on her way to becoming a welfare mom even if Governor Palin had not been selected for VP candidate.
On the other hand, I have Meghan McCain’s public scribblings and random thoughts to compare what Bristol Palin has to say about her. I have to say Bristol Palin is probably telling the truth.
>>> The hateful far left will see her as another reason to despise Governor Palin, while conservatives will recognize that they are voting for Sarah Palin and not Bristol Palin. In other words, this book has no political significance.
True as far as it goes but this omits the majority of the country. The far hateful left is one portion, the Palin fans are another portion. But most people fall in between. And there isn’t much in the soap opera that will draw them towards Sarah.
During the 2008 campaigning, Meghan came to the GOP headquarters in a small city where my daughter, her daughter, and myself were volunteering, expecting a visit from Meghan.
Meghan divided her time between 2 GOP offices, and posed at length for pictures, and autographed the book she wrote about her dad. (The books were bought previously - she did not bring any to sell).
My 9 year old granddaughter got to speak to her, and we all are in photos with her.
I remarked later that I thought Meghan was sweet, and gave generously of her time.
Eventually I heard my daughter tell Meghan she wanted to hold her in prayer, and just what were Meghan’s needs? She said: “sleep.” - and they talked a bit.
So be it. I’m sure that was a daily prayer in daughter’s family.
Imagine my daughter explaining to her now 12 year old, starting about 2 years or so ago, Meghan’s shenanigans since that happy day.
A lesson in who/what we think people are, and enduring disappointments, and more prayer for Meghan!
Not that I’m defending Meghan McCain (in any way, shape, or form), but you do know that’s a “People’s Cube” parody, right? The real magazine is spelled; MAXIM.
I’d give much more credence to a teenage MOTHER’s opinion than a girl who had an ABORTION! Just because one has made mistakes in their own lives doesn’t mean their view of others is flawed. In fact, making mistakes, taking responsibility for the consequences of those actions, and learning from them would make the teenage mother infinitely more wise than her peers in MANY cases.
I wonder if she's too dense, or needy, to realize the media uses her.
But you do get to celebrate New Year’s Eve before so many others do....Safe skies.
Was cruising FR just before bed when I saw that pic. If it haunts my dreams I’m hunting you down man.
:-D
Is the AP going to have 10 “journalists” fact check this book?
So Levi took advantage of an intoxicated girl?
In some states, that’s called rape, or at least “Date rape”
Would Bristol have sex with Levi had she been sober, and waited until they were married, like Mama Palin raised her?
Older, adult male gets plies an underage female with alcohol to “loosen her up” because he doesn’t have “game” or he needed to feed her alcohol to be able to have sex with her.
This kid has no game. The alcohol gambit is the mark of a true amateur.
Perhaps it isn't considered by many to be the case today in this country, but the position of "godparent", when it was established by custom was *not* an 'implication' of guardianship, it was an outright commitment in the event something happened to the birth parents. This still holds true in places with a strong Catholic character to the society...
the infowarrior
I see you conveniently left out the teenager part. Do you think teenagers are worldly and well informed?
Great hyperbole. I never said that.
Do YOU believe an unwed, teen mother has the wisdom to make these judgements?
True, but Palin used the word. Does that mean she would regard McCain as a guardian in the traditional sense or does she not understand what legal responsibilities a godparent has and was making a mistake?
Anyone who accepts the role of a Godparent assumes a role of spiritual guardianship. That's what being a Godparent is about.
Or push them away.
