In her memoir due out Friday, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far," the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor/potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin reveals her true feelings about the father of her son, the daughter of her mother's 2008 running mate, and much more.
Palin writes that the first time she met the 26-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, she "ignored us during the entire visit." This was just before Senator McCain introduced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin adds that she "had a sneaking suspicion I might need to watch my back."
"Every time we saw Meghan, she seemed to be constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining," she writes. "Oh the complaining."
Cindy McCain, the senator's wife, also rubbed the eldest Palin daughter the wrong way.
"I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes, adding that the would-be first lady looked "like a queen" and held "herself like royalty."
Palin writes that she was shocked when the senator's wife offered to be a godmother to her unborn baby: "I had just met her and I wondered why she wanted any type of guardianship over my child."
Palin also shares not-so-fond memories of her 2010 stint on "Dancing With the Stars," where she and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, finished in third place.
"I noticed some of the contestants rolled their eyes when they realized we'd survived to dance another day," she writes, adding that some of the contenders voted off "literally would not speak to us or acknowledge our presence."

Fair enough. I will not comment further on the book until I have more information. It probably isn’t the sort of book that I would read, in any case.
The details about the luggage of the McCains, their entourage, and their oafishness quoted in this article may not be indicative of the general tone of the book. But it is the details of one’s language that reveal one’s character.
I thought the whole point of a godmother was guardianship, in the event of something untoward.

Meghan McCain is snot-nosed rich brat who has never had to do a days manual labor in her life, who had the advantages that the scions of wealthy powerful people enjoy. Courtesy at the least would have commanded that she at least be friendly to the family of her dad’s running mate, but she couldn’t even manage that. That’s real class.
Cindy McCain offering to be a “godmother” is bizarre to me. I’m a pentecostal and have never heard of a someone asking to be a godparent, it is something asked of, not asked for.

Let me ask you all a question: How much credence would you give a hypothetical teenage, unmarried mother friend of your daughter's (or son) for her criticisms of others? Seriously.
That would sure eliminate much of what we want to know about history and the people in it.

I'd bet it means many different things to different people these days, other than the traditional meaning. Lady Gaga is the godmother of Elton John's son. Wonder what that arrangement means, if anything.
After a couple of explosive false alarms, I have learned to look into any rumors about Bristol Palin, a little deeper before I panic.
Bristol is starting to look like quite a nice, conservative gal, with a good head on her shoulders.
Makes me wonder who did what to who with which and when.

The girl had sex outside of marriage with her high school sweetheart, in high school, since when did that eliminate a person from consideration for anything, for the rest of their life?
Do you know who the 20 year old Bristol is today, in regards to conservative causes?
I know it’s not popular to say so on FR, but I see positive qualities in Bristol and I think she’s going to surprise some folks with what she accomplishes in life.
And for the record, I feel similarly about Chelsea Clinton.
It was extremely presumptuous of her to suggest taking such a place of honor, given that there was no familial connection and she hardly even knew Bristol.
