Parents Fleeing San Francisco - City, Media in Denial About Why
by Sheri Urban
The S.F. Chronicle is reporting that San Francisco is losing families in droves and blames crowded schools, and lack of housing.
Why is it that families are fleeing San Francisco? Former DCF head under Gavin Newsom has the answer.Despite San Francisco officials' efforts to keep families in the city, the percentage of children among the city's total population continues to decline....Just 13.4 percent of the city's 805,235 residents are younger than 18, one of the smallest percentages of any city in the country. The school district has lost almost 7,000 kids over the past decade, down in 2010 to 53,033.
Margaret Brodkin, who worked as Newsom's head of the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families, called the census figures "beyond depressing." City Hall should be more aggressive on affordable housing issues, she said. Newsom's policy council on family flight recommended that the city require housing developers to include affordable, family-friendly units with bathtubs, large kitchens and closets, laundry facilities and access to the outdoors. The fleeing families need larger kitchen, closets and laundry facilities? REALLY?
In 1960, children made up 25 percent of the city's population, versus just 13.4 percent today. That is a massive drop in the number of children. One that simply cannot be accounted for by the so-called reasons for which the city and media are trying to convince themselves. Dozens of other cities are experiencing the same challenges and issues as is S.F. So why are parents fleeing in far greater numbers there than anywhere else? Could it be because of OTHER changes which have altered the city since 1960? Are city and media leaders really blind to what happens on their own streets year after year, with increasing extremism, driving the most anti-family environment in America?
Still not getting it? Here are a few little hints...

I saw the pictures... I think I just threw up a little. Personally, I’d rather live in a cave than that God forsaken heck hole.
You can’t even buy a damn Happy Meal.
You can’t change your UNDERWEAR without Nanny State checking (and taxing) you.
And they wonder why people with the most to lose from these policies (those with kids) flee?
It ain’t housing, folks — it is liberal insanity.
Not to mention that it is turning into a government dependent, gay (queer), AIDS infested rat hole. To think I used to love to go there but now I would rather be just about anywhere else.
When God gives America an enema, he’ll stick the hose in San Fransisco.
Those boobs (moobs?) make absolutely no anatomical sense.
In the sixth grade during the early 1960s I was bussed to a half-black school near a ghetto in SF. It sucked big-time, but I only had to do it for one year. I couldn't see my sister doing it from second grade. Unless you're rich, the city of SF is a hell-hole for children, and is getting worse because of evil liberal controls.
oblem is . it will be well received
Problem
My parents wanted to stay in the City, so they managed to put us into Catholic schools, even though they had very little money. We rented in the Marina and same thing, we would have been bussed to some horrible ghetto, late 60s/early 70s. My Catholic class was quite mixed, and naturally so, not forced down anyone’s throats.
I’m in Hollywood and couldn’t stand the arrogant attitude of these fags in my hood’. You walk “straight” in West Hollywood and you are automatically the enemy.
There's just something innate about the revulsion.
I’d like to think that its moral outrage but the people leaving have also voted in the likes of Newsome and the gay parade for decades...
The whole thing seems a bit queer to me.
Lombard Street is not straight.
Adult men performing fellatio on each other on the street in broad daylight with others applauding the act.
Maybe, just maybe, that may be why no one wants to rise their kids in San Francisco!!
I think the worst I experienced was being called a “breeder”. I wasn’t even sure what exactly the term meant at the time but I knew it wasn’t a nice thing.
San Francisco is becoming God’s waiting room for aging queens.
“I’d like to think that its moral outrage...”
Seems weird to me in that way. I mean people voted for such things and for the type of people who want these things and then leave. Why? Did it cross a moral line of some sort? Not to be funny but did a parade featuring men dressed up as phallic symbols push them over the line (I am referring to one of the pictures on the thread). I just don’t think it is about bigger kitchens and closet space!
