This guy has been here since 1988 and he’s speaking for an immigrant rights group. First, if he doesn’t speak English, what exactly makes him an immigrant, rather than a guy, who’s just moving the border north? Second, was he a legal immigrant, who applied with all the paperwork or did he arrive illegally. Third, is he an American citizen? Has he shown any intention to become part of American society or does he want to change our country into his country?
According to the article, the man had been living in America for 23 years but felt more comfortable speaking in front of the assembly in Spainish. I’m sorry, but that’s a load of crap!! Most people in this country will go to great lengths to try to understand someone who speaks English as a second language. No one in that hearing would make fun of him or anything like that. He would have garnered more sympathy for his position if he came before the committee trying to act like he’s assimilating to America. Coming there speaking Spainish, it sounds like he and his cause want to take over America, not assimilate.

The people in my background that came here from non-English speaking countries learned it real quick after they came here.
They all came here legally. The didn’t protest and try to get Americans to cater to them by having pamphlet, driver’s tests, “Press 19 for language ‘B’”
