ARLINGTON, Va. Authorities took one person into custody and closed roads around the Pentagon Friday after a "suspicious device" was found in a car, NBC News reported.
One or two other suspects who "fled the scene" on foot were being hunted by police, according to NBC News' Jim Miklaszewski.
Although it was not immediately clear what the device was, one official told NBC News that "it looks like a bomb."
The incident brought traffic to a standstill in the area.
NBCWashington.com reported that the suspicious vehicle was discovered on Washington Boulevard.

Arlington is crawling with Muslim radicals. Years ago(about 2 years after 911) we went to DC for the 4th of July and stayed across key bridge in Arlington. The place was having some kind of Muslim gathering and the place was crawling with them. It was real weird. One night when we came back from dinner, they were having some kind of party in the dining hall. There were the usual apologist libs hanging out with muslims. I even saw a woman in complete burka attire. Needless to say...we couldn’t wait to get out of there.
Looking back, I wonder if that iman that now runs AQ in Yemen was there. He was an iman in DC around that time.
you are correct! Another standard lie to be used when these things take place.
I heard the term suspicious “package” and envisioned a cartoon of the police surrounding a UPS truck driven by Anthony Weiner.
Reporter heard “Looks like a bomb” but police said “Looks like a bong”.
Latest report says there is a label on the bottom that says “Property of Steven Dunham”.
I absolutely resent the fact that we can’t be open and trusting any more because this type will take advantage of us. “Back in the day” we could drive right onto the Capitol parking lot an; time, day or night. Now, without a Congressional permit, you can’t get near the place. Soon every last monument will be closed off so visitors have to walk a mile or two before they get there.
One would imagine the search for the other miscreants will begin (and maybe end) at Bailey’s.
speaking of UPS, have seen but not read a report of UK and parts of Europe refusing UPS free movement this day.
“WMAL says presser coming up. Arrest made of man w/backpack full of nitrate/shells/AQ materials”
Muslim Arab man shouting “Kill the infidel Crusaders” but terrorism is not suspected. Probably all a mere coincidence. Police looking at a possible Lutheran connection.
I was very spooked because from the upstairs dining room, you could see the fireworks over the city on the 4th. A good vantage point for AQ to witness(and or photograph) any havoc and chaos they might cause.
The place was full of robed, bearded men. Very unsettling to say the least.
Is today a particularly significant day to Muslims for some reason? Or maybe this is just the standard warm up for Friday prayers.
St. Augustine is rumored to have said about the Christian liturgy, “he who sings prays twice.” I guess for Muslims, it’s “he who destroys, kills and commits acts of savagery ...”
It’s probably just a Moslem that likes to visit our nations capital and take in all the history and sites.
barry might need to change his golf plans today..
Yes, my two boys used to beg me to ride on 110 so they could see the firepower on the roadside.
You should see Tysons Corner on the weekends. What gets me is these people are utter shopaholics. However, the women are always being followed or led by their husbands and entire family in tow. The women defintely don’t seem to be allowed out to shop alone.
But they’re outfitted well — designer shoes, handbags, makeup ..you name it.
