I'm socially disadvantaged. I'm a taxpayer.

So those folks who never farmed will get an advantage over those who have been working and sweating out in the fields.

Are they using Zimbabwe as a model?

American Indians? Oh, you mean those folks who showed the Jamestowne settlers and the Pilgrims how to survive.

Beyond sickening. Shrink government and do it now. This is garbage.

Whew! Thank God my wife is a woman or I would never get one of these loans. I guess the gov’t really just hates white homosexual males.

A socially disadvantaged (SDA) farmer, rancher, or agricultural producer is one of a group whose members have been subjected to racial, ethnic, or gender prejudice because of his or her identity as a member of the group without regard to his or her individual qualities.

Somebody's disadvantaged, but it isn't socially.

That's funny!

I had written a diatribe in the course of which I looked something up I'd read with google. Then I scrapped the post because it was too long.

So I look at the Sarah Palin thread and jump over and am listening and partly watching her video about her emails, and what does Youtube dish up? The farmer I'd googled. I doubt if I'd deleted my cookies which I often do, it would have made any difference.

They probably used my search and IP address; mine is dynamic and changes almost every day but would have been the same over a span of a few minutes. Makes me annoyed and should use a different search engine. There's one that uses google but anonymously supposedly, can't remember what it is.

I'm learning a lot about farming I never knew which I formerly thought boring.

The FSA has all kinds of programs, so this isn't surprising. Last night I happened across and watched a video about how the Land Bank had made loans to farmers and then land prices tanked for awhile or, in one case the farmer in CO died, left the farm to his heirs, and there was a provision that if he died, the government got the land back which it did.

There was a series of lawsuits but went on for years but finally there was justice for some.

My friend's husband had a good job in town, parents were farmers, wife worked, and he wanted so badly to get into farming and could never get ahead enough to afford the startup costs. I don't know if he ever achieved his dream, maybe when his parents died. Land was dirt cheap back then compared to now.

Great interview, Sarah, am multi-tasking.

Good grief.......all those above groups, when they were in power in their lands victimized the weaker in their cultures. It is the history of all people. All people were racist to outsiders and it was the white Christians who allowed women status in a culture and gave minorities rights....No rights for minorities and women existed in other societies.

The concept of minority rights and women rights comes from Christianity.

Why are we allowing unequal under the law in the USA? That is SO unconstitutional.

This is social engineering....we really have to return to the Constitution and treat everyone as EQUAL under the law.

Governments can not be social engineers and central planners. They always destroy whatever they touch.

Gosh! Gays aren't socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers?

This stuff has to stop in the next administration. It's asinine, unfair and unAmerican.

I am a one legged, one armed, one eyed, transvestite, American with lineage of the mutt variety. A little island pacifica, some American indian, some spanish some kind, my grandmother was not sure, some where in my lineage I am sure I could find an asiatic type.Might be able to prove some African descent, seems I remember that all of us trace our roots back to Africa.
I have never farmed but if the govt is handing out money I will be sure to get some, then maybe I can move out of this here trailer and get me a farm. What is a Farm by the way.
If II have a farm does that mean I must work. Damn this free money does come with some strange strings. Tell you what give me the money I will dazzle the ladies with my new found wealth. You keep the farm, will cut into my free time, cannot have that.

When I run out of money I am sure my people in DC will figure a way to skim some more of you RICH white folks.
