Perry signs and the exodus begins.
It's about time.
Nice to see the Lone Star State joining the effort. Push back the tide!
Perry needs to charge his Secy of State (or whomever handles voter irregularities in Texas) to send letters to every name on the voter rolls---requesting proof of citizenship, place of residence and name on SS# must match. Those who do not present proof will be stricken from the rolls.
2009---TEXAS DREAM ACT DEMONSTRATION
In secret enclaves, they conspire to destroy the USA from within.
TX immigration legislation ping.
Let me know if you want on or off my TX ping list.
Is this a trick to bolster his GOP nomination chances or is he serious about illegal problem?
If yes, I think I’m ready to join Perry bandwagon.
Good law.
Get rid of lots of illegals and the only downside would be that everyone will have to carry their US Passport at all times.
Oh, puleez. Perry was just out testing which way the wind is blowing. Yo, Ricky, you're about a couple decades late and a few billion dollars short. Remind me again who insisted on getting the DREAM ACT pushed down Texan's wallets allowing illegals to pay in-state college tuition? Who was it who pushed through the Trans Texas Corridor so illegals would have a straight shot from the border north? Oh, yeah, that was Liberal Perry. Liberal Perry is the real Governor, his alter ego RINO Perry only shows up at election time.
The language of these headlines (both local and national) are a$$backwards. The legislation is against cities that support amnesty.
The Houston Comical had a headline a few weeks back indicating Democrat “opposition” to sanctuary city legislation. The policy is already in place in Houston and other Rat kingdoms. This would give the state power to go after such cities that encourage scofflaws and international crime.
Best thing I have read today!
Agreed that it's a step in the right direction, but I doubt that this measure will cause illegals to self-deport en masse.
We need a law like Alabama's to do that.
Ping!
Glad to see Texas doing the right thing! I hope all the states do this.
What kind of morons want more people coming into their country when unemployment is high?
What kind of morons want more crime in their country?
Our votes are going to be very important in 2012.
Perry must have a record making him look like a conservative....Perry is not a conservative...he is a moderate Republican...and a typical politican...
This is like whack-a-mole. Texas passes a tough immigration law, and all the illegals stampede to another state. Maybe the entire south can push all the illegals into New York and watch the state go bankrupt.
This is a good thing. I have a hard time understanding why legal citizens of the U.S. who are from Mexico would want illegals to be able to access the same benefits and privilege that they got legally.
I’m glad my city will not longer be a sanctuary city... it is already majority Mexican.
Of course, it will depend on what the local people actually do but it’s a good start.
IMO, there’s less here than meets the eye. Let the State try to enforce it within Houston.
Yet Perry wouldn’t support Arizona’s illegal immigration law. Puzzling.
Let the Marxist screaming begin.
“Prohibiting sanctuary city policies will make the apprehension, detention and deportation of dangerous criminals more uniform — keeping us all safer and Texas more secure.”
Good.
But why stop there? Go ahead and apprehend and deport illegals that aren’t part of the narco-drug cartels or Mexican thug gangs—the ordinary illegal aliens here to take American jobs, get free education, bankrupt hospitals by free use of emergency rooms as their health care plan, sign up for every welfare program imaginable, etc., etc.
Love it! Thank you Texas Senate.
