WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Pakistan's top military spy agency has arrested five CIA informants who fed information to U.S. intelligence before the raid last month which killed Osama bin Laden, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
One of the detainees was reported to be a Pakistani Army major whom officials said copied license plates of cars visiting the al Qaeda leader's compound 30 miles northwest of Islamabad.
The fate of the CIA informants arrested in Pakistan was unclear, the newspaper reported, citing American officials.
Outgoing CIA Director Leon Panetta raised the issue of the informants' detention during a trip to Islamabad last week where he met Pakistani military and intelligence officers, the newspaper said.

Message to Congress:
Dear Mr. Speaker,
Cut off all aid to Pakistan now!
Sincerely,
Their way of saying thanks?
There ought to be another raid to free these guys.
And how do they know who the informants are?? Oh yeah BO told em.
“Last week, at a closed Senate Intelligence Committee briefing, Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell rated Pakistan’s cooperation with the United States on counterterrorism operations a “three” on a scale of 1 to 10, the Times reported, citing officials familiar with the exchange.”
Double spies....Sometimes we’re just plain stupid.
Why didn’t the U.S. Government get them out of the country after the mission was completed?
´Cause barry ran it.
That’s my question too.
not getting your comment
Osama was a money-maker for Pakistan.
The USofA should stop trying to bribe other nations with our tax dollars to ‘like’ us ... all we get for our money is contempt for our generosity.
Thoughts I have about this.
1) Pakistan says they did NOT know O.B.L. was in the compound.
2) They were recording licenses of cars visiting the compound.
3) HUH?? Why record licenses if they weren’t aware of the occupants?
... and what will Obama do about it? It will probably cause him a bogey on the back nine. Such pressure!
The U.S. government might be concerned about the leaking of secret operational data in Pakistan. And the U.S. government might not be too pleased that Pakistan has reportedly arrested informants who aided the CIA before the raid of Osama bin Ladens compound.
But theres little doubt that, despite those differences, the U.S. military still supplies the Pakistani military with new, sophisticated intelligence collection and communications equipment.
The Army Communications and Electronics Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground recently put out a notice signaling that it may need contractors to train members of the Pakistani military on how to use a new Ground Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (GISR) system.
If we speculate that the bush administration knew where osama was, but at the same time did not want to lose these information sources. Then Obama took the low hanging fruit and as a result, these informants will probably be killed. And we will no longer have these back channel assets. The conflict that will result here is going to be a blood bath.
How long until Pakistan gets its replacement P-3s they lost when the Taliban overran their Naval base.
