Companies hire guards for their buildings. Gated communities have guards. There are a gazillion ways you can have a private militia in this country that folks don't even think about being militias.

Localities of all sorts have police forces ~ they don't have to depend on a federal "Caribinari", or Mounties, or federales (like in Mexico) ~ for their more serious work either.

The Constitution gives Congress the authority to call out the militia ~ and given what that means, it's not possible to say the militia, unorganized or organized, isn't subject to government control at some level.

Congress was authorized to call out the militia. Now what do you think that means?

That during time of war we'd show up armed to help defend our Country? Now who's drinking the bong water? How are we supposed to show up armed if we don't have an INDIVIDUAL Right to keep and Bear arms?

Yeah... Thomas Jefferson would kick you in the teeth for your silly assertions.

So what ~ if Congress has the authority to call out the militia that's pretty important wouldn't you think?

That's one of the enumerated powers. It's not a voluntary sort of thing. They call, you go.

BTW, it has been common in the Western World for probably 4,000 years for communities to maintain armories where they kept "special weapons" and "armor" and other instruments of war ~ e.g. chariots (with harness), larger crew served weapons, battering rams, etc.

I suppose you could have "individual ownership" of such devices, but you'd have to be much wealthier than the average guy living in a wattle and daub hut to keep it in out of the weather when not in use.

You can't deny the right of a community as a whole to own weapons ~ and of course individuals have a God given right to own weapons, but not everything in matters of war depends on you owning your own weapon ~ own a tank ~ now, drive that sucker out of your front yard, and lo and behold you find the soil in your area isn't firm enough to hold it up and your tank will be in a ditch of its own making.

Or, bring your own jet takeoff field so we can have use of your fighter craft to deend against the common enemy.

Actually, yes it is voluntary. Where does it say in the Constitution that it isn't?

Kings were common in the Western world the last 4000 years a well. Said kings liked keeping their populations in check by keeping them disarmed... Sort of like what you are advocating...

Are you really espousing communism? "Community" ownership of property? Not that this doesn't fit with the rest of your mindless drivel...

I have stopped believing anything out of the government and law enforcement.

And I am one of those nice people who work hard, pay taxes, school my children, bake for church sales.

If I am unbelieving this country is in trouble.

I saw that he has paranoid personality d/o which is a far cry from paranoid schizophrenia.

People live and have fruitful lives with PPD. Not with Paranoid schitz.

That is a difference, but it may not be meaningful in this case if he’s already developed “criminal habits”.

There is a world of difference and only the law says what is criminal these days, not the natural law.

Look, I don't even believe in public roads yet I know that you are going to go out today and use one ~ does that make you a Commie?

Hey, I think it does because you never even thought of how common ownership allows certain folks of a criminal bent to STEAL MY STUFF, if not yours!

Still, your disbelief in the utility of "crew served weapons" suggests your mind is still stuck back there in the days when you stripped down and ran into battle in a disorganized manner.

BTW, when the militia is called up and you are a citizen YOU MUST GO. There's no "voluntary" part to that demand.

I’ve done a 2000-mile round-trip “oh I’ll just drop in” before; out and back, nobody but the visited noticed. On a straight run, a thousand miles takes about 15 hours.

Still, your disbelief in the utility of "crew served weapons"...

I've never said that. In fact, I'd love to own my own aircraft carrier. Having fired a number of blackpowder cannons, having my own Howitzer would be cool too.

None of which authorizes ANYONE in government to restrict my Right to own them. If I want to show up with something to bring to the Party, then I have to follow the Govs guidelines for militia service. This in no way limits anything else I may own.

BTW, when the militia is called up and you are a citizen YOU MUST GO. There's no "voluntary" part to that demand.

Militia Act of 1792

No where in there does it say that participation is compulsory. Nor in the later 1862 or 1903 Acts.

Militia service has ZERO bearing on the individual Right though. The Right is not conditional upon militia service. Period.

Boys, boys...methinks you’re both on the same side. Quit fighting over minor irregularities in casual comments. The Constitution sez you both can have your M16s and Howitzers, and compulsory or not you’re expected to show up with ‘em when called on.

Nah... He thinks we should do the British thing and keep all of our armaments in government armories that he can go and check out for compulsory militia duty.

I'm a lot more Patrick Henry than that. I'll being my own damn cannon...
