Bachmann Adds Another Former Huckabee Staffer
FOX News ^ | 06/13/2011 | Steve Brown

Michele Bachmann's yet-to-be-officially-announced presidential campaign has added another former Mike Huckabee staffer. An announcement is expected shortly that Alice Stewart will serve as national press secretary.

Stewart held a similar role with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's 2008 White House bid.

The addition of Stewart brings a Huckabee flavor to the Bachmann bid. The Minnesota Congresswoman already has commitments from Iowa field-hand Wes Enos and campaign manager Ed Rollins, both filled the same roles with Huckabee's campaign.

It’s really sad when libs call her stupid. But it’s hard to argue when I see who she’s hiring. Of course the libs are saying she’s stupid for different reasons.

I’m fine with this. Don’t assume the staffers are in lockstep with ant candidate’s beliefs or policies so there’s no reason to slam anybody that worked for Huck or any other past candidate. Most of these staffers are vagabonds just looking for a paycheck and a candidate they can tolerate.

MB is Sarah’s stalking horse in exchnage to be Myth’s VP.

MB, an ex-dem and Carter supporter, can no longer be trusted to be a true Tea Party patriot.

MB “hearts” Romney - ‘nuff said.

Like many Freepers, I’m deeply disappointed in Michele Bachmann after the Ed Rollins ‘incident’ where Rollins, immediately after being hired by Bachmann, trashed Sarah Palin then made a lame, non-apology ‘apology’ while Michele Bachmann, ostensibly Rollins ‘boss’, said nothing. I don’t really care who Bachmann hires but I do care that she misled conservatives into believing she was actually on our side. Now, in my view, Michele Bachmann is in the same category as Newt Gingrich: irrelevant.

Huh?

While I am equally disappointed in her staffing picks. Her VOTES and rhetoric over the past # years has been spot on. Can’t say that about ANYONE else in the race

(PS - I would vote for Palin over her)

This woman is not very smart.

She is very "smart".

She lacks political savvy.

She also lacks charisma.

Her choice of Rollins and then not firing him after he hinted that Sarah Palin is stupid, shows that she is not good at making executive decisions. It was bad enough to choose Rollins. It was compounded by her refusal to publicly denounce his comments and then demand his resignation or remove him from her staff.

She's probably picking Huckabee people up because Huckabee was supposedly the candidate for evangelicals. That won't work for her any better than it worked for Huckabee.

So would I - and I suppose that is my real issue with Michele Bachmann.

I'm a Sarah Palin supporter and was dismayed to see Michele Bachmann appear to be using the insufferable Ed Rollins as a mouthpiece to trash Palin. That gave me the impression that Bachmann was trying to thwart a Palin run, either by her deliberate choice or because the GOP elites urged her to do so to 'stop Palin' - and Bachmann went along with it. Because I believe that Sarah Palin is the most solid conservative in the race and has tremendous charisma that can help her defeat the vulnerable Barack Obama, I continue to support her. Michele Bachmann would have been my second choice. Not so much, now, Despite her conservative voting record, I no longer trust Michele Bachmann - and the 2012 election is too important to risk on a politician that is not trustworthy.

I have always wonder from where that canard originated.

I R one of those, at least that’s how some would label me, and I know plenty more so called “evangelicals”, and none that I know favor Huckabee for ANY office, let alone POTUS.

Give me a break. Voting record is the ONLY think that matters. Everything is just BS talk. There is not a single candidate in the race at the moment who has a record even close to Bachmann - And you think she’s a turncoat just because she hires some hack political advisor.

NEWS FLASH - Every Republican political consultant is a RINO, establishment hack. How do think they make a living?

I understand your concern and cringe at Rollins attacks at Palin, especially since she isn’t in the race, but to call Bachmann a turncoat to Conservative philosophy is plain ridiculous.

As of today, and if Palin, does not enter the race, Bachmann is the ONLY candidate I will support.

Reagan was a former Democrat, too. Maybe he secretly was trying to destroy the conservative movement while in the White House, too.

Bachmann on Romney:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcbDM-rEsJ4

BACHMANN: Well, I think that he has real concerns with what he did on health care in Massachusetts. I think that’s, you know, he understands economics, but I think clearly what happened in Massachusetts has not been a good thing for that state. It’s driving it towards bankruptcy as is TennCare in Tennessee.

Granted, a politician's voting record is very helpful in assessing their political worldview but what they say and do outside of their voting record cannot be airily dismissed. Hiring a 'political hack' like Rollins was, at best, an error of judgement. That Michele Bachman ignored the displeasure Rollins' remarks about Palin received from conservatives and basically 'clammed up' is hardly reassuring. Frankly, I believe that Bachmann's silence was intentional. Fine, we got the message and no, I won't 'give you (Bachmann, really) a break'.

NEWS FLASH - Every Republican political consultant is a RINO, establishment hack. How do think they make a living?

That is simply not true. There are conservative political consultants all over the country. The catch is that most of the 'big names' are RINO hacks and so, should be avoided. Ed Rollins is one of them. Frankly, if that is the best defense of Bachmann hiring Ed Rollins that you can come up with, it is not impressive.

I understand your concern and cringe at Rollins attacks at Palin, especially since she isn’t in the race, but to call Bachmann a turncoat to Conservative philosophy is plain ridiculous.

Unfortunately, you're attributing statements to me that I never made. Michele Bachmann may hold conservative political views but I see her as working to thwart Sarah Palin's (probable) candidacy and to me, that makes her someone that I choose to reject. On the miniscule chance that Michele Bachmann was nominated as the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, I would vote for her - but with some reservations. However, comparing voting records and seeking the most conservative, I'll gladly give you that Bachmann is head and shoulders above Mitt Romney, the MSM's choice.

As of today, and if Palin, does not enter the race, Bachmann is the ONLY candidate I will support.

I remain a Sarah Palin supporter and expect her to run. Still, I can agree with your statement - for the moment. However, I want to see what Michele Bachmann says and does in the next few months. In my book, she is 'on probation'. You obviously don't see it that way. So be it. As long as we get rid of the Marxist Obama and elect a conservative president in 2012, I'll be good with that - and I assume that you will, too.

I seriesly doubt that Michele cares what others think of her staff selections.

Her place appears to be advancing issues and stirring the pot.

I wish her well in however and whatever she chooses to do to get a message out that shakes the pillars of power that have ensnared this nation in a spiral downwards, both economically and socially.
