A pretty good test of basic knowledge of our government. It's disappointing that the overall average score is 49%, and the average for college educators is 55%. If that's representative of those voting in elections (and I have no reason to believe it's not), we're doomed!

31 out of 33 correctly — 93.94 %

.Incorrect Answers
Question: If taxes equal government spending, then:
Your Answer: government debt is zero
Correct Answer: tax per person equals government spending per person on average

(Both are technically correct)

Question: Which of the following fiscal policy combinations has the federal government most often followed to stimulate economic activity when the economy is in a severe recession?
Your Answer: increasing both taxes and spending
Correct Answer: decreasing taxes and increasing spending..

(I tend to stick by this answer too, mostly because I’m bitter)

10/10 and then 33/33 on the longer test. I will be sitting here by my computer waiting for Obama to resign and put me in charge.

Pretty dumb test. The only way a reasonably with it person could get any wrong would be by misreading a question.

I got 33 out of 33 right. But a couple of the questions were questionable. :-)

I took the 33 question test and got 31/33 right (94%). I got the one about abortion wrong. I also got the one wrong about the most common fiscal policy combination followed in severe recessions.

Perhaps JimRob could consider requiring having two levels of membership. Those who pass the test with 90% or more get a Freeper Star next to their screen names as proof that they know what they’re talking about when it comes to understanding our Free Republic. Just a thought.

I got a 9/10:

Question: What was the source of the phrase “Government of the people, by the people, for the people”?
Your Answer: U.S. Constitution
Correct Answer: Gettysburg Address

Oooops, I think this is a common misconception, though.

How is the average score on this less than 50 percent, I wonder? How many of those score 10 and 20 percent? Sheesh.

Well, I answered 9 correctly. “Government of the people ...
“ was in the Gettysburg address not the Declaration of Independence.

The average score of 49% is appalling, but explains a lot about our politics. Here's my result:

I see now there are two quizzes. The link to the article at the top of this thread goes to a 33 question quiz, while the link to "Test" in Post 1 goes to a 10 question quiz. My earlier comment stands - I'm appalled by the average scores reported (elected politicians scored below 75% on every single question asked!) Here is my score on the longer quiz:
