The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, she earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as the 58th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an obstetrician-gynecologist and was the Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Tim Pawlenty
Pawlenty served two terms as governor of Minnesota, from 2002 to 2010. He served in the Minnesota House from 1992 until 2002. He is the son of a truck driver.
Mitt Romney
Romney was the 70th Governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Bachmann really gets her talking points in there. I like the way he answers questions. A quick answer. Then all the talking points. Then a detailed, reasoned answer. And then a summary.
I’m enjoying the music channel of my choice.
They can’t LEAVE or that will be the story, but this guy is combative.
They agreed to a debate, not a cage fight with CNN.
Crap...I missed it..now I have to back track.
Michelle is impressive and very strong.
Bachmann asked about gay marriage and the 10th amendment. She doesn't see it's the role of a president to go into them and interfere in their state law.
Newt, Santorum, Bachmann, TPaw, Romney for a marriage amendment. Cain says marriage is a state issue.
Asked about DADT. Cain would leave the existing policy in place because the military is busy. TPaw would defer to the military. Romney would've kept DADT until we were out of conflict. Newt says Army and Marines were against repeal, if they said the repeal was a failure, he'd return to DADT. Bachmann echo's Newt. (Santorum echo's Ron Paul's comment that the issue is about behavior?)
Santorum ticks off his prolife credentials. Romney believe in sanctity of from beginning to end. No disagreement on abortion for the candidates.
Bachmann asked about rape, incest and mother's health. She's says those exceptions get all the attention but they are not the battle. She's prolife from conception to natural death. TPaw mentions his prolife record in MN.
There are a number of good ProLifers up there. Michelle, Paul, Pawlenty, Santorum
Oh goody, some immigration questions.
Better hit it hard, candidates.
The candidate that said gays have no place in the military at all and we should go back to the pre-DADT policy would have won major points with me. They all failed that question.
I have yet to see a link where Rollins attacked the Tea Party. Lets see it.
I’ll second that!
Hi Reagan Man!
Cain, T-Paw, Romney, Paul weak on the DADT issue
Newt belongs in Academia as a Political Science professor, NOT as President.
Newt has been great in his answers. Cain’s been great, Pawlenty’s been great. Is Pawlenty NBC?
Bachmann’s been very good.
exactly. And Bachmann won’t answer a question! She sounds like a friggin’ liberal with only coming back with canned answers & not answering!
And of those Pawlenty, Bachmann and Santorum are electable.
Obama is a good TelePrompter reader.
Take away his TelePrompter and Obama turns into a stammering idiot.
I believe in the spark of life, I was glad to hear her say it.
We shall see.
This moderator guy is most annoying. SHUT UP!
I think Newt should stick to writing books.
