The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, she earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as the 58th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an obstetrician-gynecologist and was the Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Tim Pawlenty
Pawlenty served two terms as governor of Minnesota, from 2002 to 2010. He served in the Minnesota House from 1992 until 2002. He is the son of a truck driver.
Mitt Romney
Romney was the 70th Governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Ron Paul is like Robert Taft “Mr. Republican”, the leader of the Conservative Republicans before Barry Goldwater.
Why are you going on about Sarah Palin? Is this thread to discuss the debates or to have a temper tantrum in?
Mitt Romney is such an unprincipled coward, that, for reason of political expediency, he would defend satanic practices and witchcraft.
Being himself a willing participant in a diabolic cult that effectively denies the identity of Jesus Christ, he holds no bedrock beliefs—and, therefore, he does not recognize the transcendent truths of the Judeo-Christian tradition. He is “double-minded and unstable in all his ways.”
Mitt Romney is truly a man standing on shifting sand; and such a lack of foundation provides the paramount reason for why he must never again be allowed to hold the reins of power.
If not for the duplicitous mind of Mitt Romney, “homosexual marriage” would never have gained its “beachhead” in America. Romney opened the door to that abomination. He will do the same with Sharia Law ... and he will welcome any other Trojan Horse, because he himself is the model for the modern version of that ancient deception.
This individual launches into an anti-Palin diatribe with everyone who doesn’t join the Michele Bachmann love fest.
So you do not care about whether this country has practicing homosexuals in its military? You obviously have not well considered the consequences of that “unique” policy.
Considering your handle, and your sign-up date, I wonder about the sincerity of your conservative principles.
So, who won?
Very weak field of candidates!!!!!!!!!
No charisma at all!!!!
Next field of candidates, please! This time, with someone who has the gravitas as POTUS!
WHO WON?
CNN and liberals ... of course.
One democrat in my house said it all: IS THIS THE BUNCH OF REPUG WANNABEES who want to unseat the Glory that is Obama? And I hate to hear it.
Meh. Another debate with the same old promises and talking points.
Mitt, Newt, MB, Rick, and Ron scored highest in this Queensbury gab fest. Cain and T-Paw were disappointments overall.
On to the next dog and pony show while Obama and his minions continue to wreak havoc on the USA.
I want to see Palin, Giuliani, Huntsman, and Perry/Bolton jump in to shake things up.
Romney has to quit. And the only thing that will make him quit is lousy poll numbers. His numbers have to go down, way down. And the only way that’s going to happen is for somebody else’s numbers to go up.
But you know what? I was not impressed by what I saw last night. Not at all. I woke up this morning convinced that they all sounded almost exactly the same, and that’s pretty darn hard to do when you’ve got Mitt Romney and Ron Paul on the stage with you.
And you know why? Because they all said pretty much the same thing. Not ONE of them took a page from a SINGLE EPISODE of a Rush Limbaugh show, or a Mark Levin show or a Glenn Beck show. Not a single page.
I’m sorry, but looking back on it, they are all STUPID. Including Bachmann. To stand up there in front of the American people and sound like a cookie cutout like all the other dweebs next to you... what f*ing losers. I’m sorry.
Obama’s a bad president. Obama’s not leading. We’ve got to grow the economy. We’ve got to grow more jobs. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
I’m not going to say what they SHOULD have said because dammit I’m NOT Rush Limbaugh but at least I’ve LISTENED to him and everybody here knows what to say if they were up on the stage, everybody but the MENTAL DWARVES who were up there.
Listen to Rush!
Listen to Levin!
Listen to Beck!
And then get back in the debate and talk about SOCIALISM.
Talk about the MEDIA.
Talk about THE DESTRUCTION OF THE SUBURBS.
Talk about environmentalism as a front for COMMUNISM.
C’mon people!
Show some balls!
Or sound like the cookie-cutouts you all so far ARE.
Including YOU Bachmann.
Including YOU Cain.
The great heroes of the Tea Party movement.
Sounded weak last night. Very, very, very weak.
I am ashamed.
Where is Sarah Palin?
C’mon, Sarah, get in there. Kick some *ass. And when you do, say something REAL. Talk about what’s REALLY GOING ON.
Because none of those other chicken sh*ts seem willing to do it.
CNN’s own reporter blasts this debate:
“CNN iReporter Egberto Willies challenged the value of the entire debate, saying it “lacked intellect.”
“We heard nothing but talking points,” he said. “We’ve given these guys a platform to spill talking points that ultimately will never solve America’s problems.”
That’s what I heard. A lot of talk, talk, talk. Meanwhile America is headed over the cliff because of both political parties. Most of the candidates on that stage are beholden to the GOP machine.
News Flash: Time for outsiders who are not connected with DC or Congress to shake things up. Until the sheeple wake up, nothing will really change.
Busted? How old are you, ten?
As for the thin skin of the Palinista’s, I guess you have just reinforced my viewpoint.
I agree. The Palin supporters are annoying and can handle NO criticism. FR is overrun with Palinbots.
Reagan did too. It's how he managed to get through the tax cuts despite a Congress of the opposite party.
The Congress still lied through their teeth, though, and never followed through with the matching spending cuts: and then they and the media blamed Reagan for "soaring deficits".
Look up the following Dem quote: "I could create the illusion of prosperity if you let me write $200 billion in hot checks every year."
Then wonder why the press isn't saying this about Teh One.
Cheers!
I don’t think Cain and Bachmann are “beholden to the GOP machine”. And Paul isn’t. The rest are, including that numbskull Gingrich who likes to pretend otherwise.
But Paul is a whackjob and not really even in the running. He’s our Kucinich, nothing more.
And Cain is a good guy who came across last night as just that, a good guy going nowhere.
But Bachmann... wow, what a disappointment. I expected a lot more from Bachmann. What we got was cookie-cutter me-tooism and a lot of hand gestures.
“Cant stand HER voice?
How about Palin with that gosh golly gee willikers thing going on..Love her politics but she sounds like a 3rd grade teacher when she talks..
_______________
I agree. Love her politics also, but she needs to take some lessons from Bachmann when it comes to speaking and sophistication.”
Yup. And that idiotic wink and “ntch” sound she makes. Like fingernails on a blackboard,,,makes my skin crawl. The only thing she has`nt done to try to make herself look like an average Joe is take a pinch of Red Man and shove it in her mouth.
I really like that Michele did not feel compelled to wear a red suit tonight. She looks a serious member of the field with her dark suit, and white shirt.
Maybe you should fear your own opinions. It's pretty unanimous this morning that Bachmann did very well.
There you win.
Ed Rollins will not be on any ballot. It's just noteworthy how negative so many here have been toward Bachmann when the consensus among commentators on radio and TV is that she did well and helped herself last night. Nothing but compliments from Bill Bennett and his guests and callers this morning.
