ALAMEDA -- Harold Camping, the Doomsday radio preacher who sparked international media attention by predicting the end of the world last month, has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke at his Alameda home Thursday night.
The 89-year-old radio evangelist and president of the Oakland nonprofit Family Radio was taken by ambulance from his house Thursday night, a neighbor said, but his well-known, gravelly voice that led many believers to donate millions of dollars to his cause may never be the same.
"He had a stroke, it was on his right side," said the neighbor, who declined to give her name but said she and her husband helped and comforted Camping's wife, Shirley, as the drama unfolded Thursday night.
Her husband spoke again with Shirley Camping on Friday. "His speech appears to be a little bit slurred but otherwise he's OK," the neighbor said. "(Shirley) said he was doing good ... and the only thing that's affected is his speech."

The end of the world catching up to him?
Tiiiiiiime it’s not on your Siiiiiiide, no it aint.
Maybe he was just predicting the END of his world. No loss. We need level-headed people to lead us, not charlatans and Democrats (or am I being redundant?).
The dain bramage that led up to the stroke may have explained his recent goofiness and fear of the end of the world.
Ways to tell if he’s crying wolf, again? None right now.

I’ve never heard him speak, but I believe he is simply a misguided Christian.
If I correctly recollect, the Apostle Paul spoke of a church who had sold all their possessions and were sitting around waiting for the Rapture. It was done in earnest, but also misguidedly.
The Bible clearly states we will not know the time. All that matters is that we are prepared at all times, because, at the very lease, we all die—even if the Rapture won’t be the cause.
I think the stroke happened months ago.
Why is someone like this classified as an evangelist insteadof a nutcase??
Maybe it wasn’t his first stroke or brain event.
Let’s not whitewash what he is by saying ‘misguided’.
He is a false prophet. He made a false prediction claiming to be a prophet of God for the 1994 end of the world. Didn’t happen. Any prophet who prophesies in the name of God but the prophecy doesn’t come true, by God’s own Word, is NOT from God. He is NOT on the team.
What does the false prophet do? He makes another false prediction. Doesn’t come true again.
He is NOT of God, or from God, or giving ANY revelation from God.

Not quite stated that way, but implied in the letters to the church at Thessaloniki. We have two letters from Paul to this church with the coming of the Lord as a prime subject. The first letter was written because some at Thessaloniki were concerned that some of their loved ones had died and had not seen the Lord's return. Paul writes to explain that the dead in Christ will rise first and be with Him when those who are still alive at His return meet Him in the air.
The second letter was written because some at Thessaloniki believed that since the Lord's return could happen at any moment, they didn't have to work. Not having anything constructive to do, they became busybodies, lazy, and a burden to the rest of the body of believers. Here we find in chapter 3 the line "He who will not work shall not eat."
While not in the body of Hold Writ, there is some indication in the writings of the early Fathers that a situation such as was stated - people giving up all and awaiting for the Return - was exactly what was happening at Thessaloniki.
Thus ends tonight's lesson on Biblical history.

Yeah, like back in 1994...
I am familiar with Thessalonians, of course, and while I don’t disagree with what you said, I don’t think it’s quite the situation of a whole church selling its possessions and sitting around waiting for the Rapture.
Could have happened, I suppose, I just don’t think that the explicit picture given, the situation seems to be painted with a broader brush that could give rise to many different details.
