Had a good conversation today with a friend who’s a retired LEO. He said the new “liquid” armor would be great for prison guards. Protects well against “stab” attacks. I told him that the “liquid” armor was based on Silly Putty, which he got a kick out of. But it really is! Non-Newtonian fluids, and colloids. Silly Putty! A bit more complicated than that, but still,,,,,,,,And the metallic versions are very interesting!

Never heard of it. Sounds very interesting. When I started no one had ballistic vests.

It will never happen, at least for the military. They will give it the same treatment they gave dragonscale armor and new/better rifles and calibers. They will put it through such tough tests with expectations so high they can't be met. It would come out better compared to whatever is currently used, but testing it alongside current equipment is too fair a treatment.
